ldybg51 Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 Why was it that I never saw his name that often before and didn't even think it was that common? Now everywhere I turn thats all anyone is named. Its cruel. I can not stop thinking about him and this does not help.
moimeme Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 Same reason when you buy a Ford Taurus suddenly you think everybody's driving one. You are now looking for these things subconsciously.
Author ldybg51 Posted March 8, 2004 Author Posted March 8, 2004 I know the science behind it I just don't like it one little iota.
Iamhappy Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 I can sympathize. It seems like almost everyone in the world has the same name as my ex, "a**h***." Whenever I hear this or his nickname, "Jacka$$," I still occasionally will turn around...and want to push his face in a vat of broken glass, but hey that's just me. Good times. Good times.
Author ldybg51 Posted March 8, 2004 Author Posted March 8, 2004 LOL! Dogs pi$$ would work also. OOPS did I forget to type that in white font
Dejin Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 harsh, harsh, harsh! lol. I sure hope you both don't think of all guys in those terms.
Iamhappy Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 I sure hope you both don't think of all guys in those terms. Nope. Just the ex. See the part where I said I want to push his face (and not someone else's) in a vat of broken glass?
Dejin Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 Nope. Just the ex. See the part where I said I want to push his face (and not someone else's) in a vat of broken glass? Oh ok, I see. -sighs in relief- I knew a girl once who was just... completely man-hating. Really interesting to see her compete in our gym class too. Lets just say she, uh, liked to pick fights. And usually she'd win.
Iamhappy Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 (Italian accent) Fuhgeddaboutit Nothing to see here.
jenny Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 have you tried making his name into an anagram? do so, then see how often you see the anagram everywhere to test out the principle that you are subconsciously looking for those words. there are some cool anagram makers on the web if you're not inclined to do it manually.
Author ldybg51 Posted March 8, 2004 Author Posted March 8, 2004 Even the moderator has his name. I cant take it. AAHHHHHH I am still trying to come up with one. I want a really good one. HINT: It starts with p and ends in l.

I'm rather partial to “Eric”, as it's mine, somewhat uncommon, and not often equated with evil.

I can not stop thinking about him and this does not help. have you tried making his name into an anagram? do so, then see how often you see the anagram everywhere I thought Paul was uncommon also. Seems as if its not anymore
Author ldybg51 Posted March 9, 2004 Author Posted March 9, 2004 And I have absolutely nothing against him. Just someone who happens to have the same exact name broke my little heart. Now everyone is changing thier names to Paul.
Darkangelism Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 of course you have nothing against him, i didnt think you did, yes everybody changed their name, thats what happens. Everybody is out to get you, lol,jk
moimeme Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 I thought Paul was uncommon also Nope. Not at all. You just weren't paying attention! They're all over the place.
Author ldybg51 Posted March 9, 2004 Author Posted March 9, 2004 I KNOW I subscribed to this email prayer pamphlet type thing. I got my first days lesson. HHHUuuu The "leaders" name was Paul.....I cant escape them. Its is weird though. When I first met him I didnt know any Pauls. I thought, huuummph, I dont know any Pauls. I may have even let him in on this tid bit of information. And now he is still the only one that I know personally. But I see the name everywhere now....its just life and science, life and science. My brain functioning the way it was created.
faux Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 This reminds me of another thread. It had something to do with attempting to avoid people, but always seeming to run into them. Now that I think of it, this sort of thing happens to me as well. Someone could do me very wrongly, and I wouldn't want to see them. I may in fact not see them, but I would look around nervously wanting to avoid them, and end up seeing people who look similar. I might mistake someone from a distance to be that person. I'll notice reminders popping up all over the place. I'll tend to notice around me that more people have this person's name than I had before. Hopefully this is what is happening to you, and it isn't some vast conspiracy. And no, I don't think you seriously believe it is some type of conspiracy, but I thought to add some more of my input on it. Just an over-working mind I suppose.

That is my ex-boyfriend's name! And,he looks like UCFKevin (in his new pic). So, a reminder of him is everywhere. Maybe I should find a different forum....LOL! Equated with evil....yes, definatly! That compulsive liar needs a good swift kick in the ba||s. Speaking of a vat of broken glass....sounds like a good idea! hee hee! I am normally a very nice girl, I swear!

If it helps, you can preach about how evil Erics are and I will not intervene. That or I can attempt to represent that associating evil with a name is not necessarily correct. I would like to believe that not everyone named Sara, Kari and Chelsea are such bad people. Also, at one point I absolutely could not stand drinking one brand of mint tea. Instead I went to another source and the tea, it was good.

Yeah...someone actually had the nerve to say that to me. Damn Rednecks! LOL
Karlise Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 You know, that exact thing happened to me! I broke up with this guy and his name was like EVERYWHERE! It was horrible. Then I came up with this thought which was comforting ... "This reason I keep seeing this name is because it's a common name....a common name for a common, run of the mill jerk" It really helped!!!
faux Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 Originally posted by dolphinsunshyn Is that a pickup line?? LOL If you prefer it to be, but I find pick up lines to be silly... LOL Take what was said to you for instance. I'm a fan of the old-fashioned honest compliment myself. I meant to say that that a name is just that. One sharing the same name of another who has wronged me in the past is not necessarily going to do the same to me.
