irc333 Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 I saw this lovely looking lady making a comment on another friends of mines wall....turns out we have 7 mutual friends (she knows at least 7 people that I know) So I wanted to send her a message. But turns out there's just a "Poke", but not "send message" link.....you mean one can lock down their FB profile so much, you can't even send a message? Typically, what I like to do....is email a person an introduction Of course I could "Friend her" and put the message IN the Friends request itself, but I think that would be too intrusive. So I message before I friends request. But if this person doesn't even allow for a message to be sent? Why is this? My choice is to just add her as a friend whent he FB doesn't even allow to send a message, to "prepare" them. WHats up with that? I wanted to say, "Hey, I see you know some of the same people I do....how long have you been friends with so-and-so?" Heck, I could say, that we might have met at functions among people.
D-Jam Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 You can lock down facebook as much as you want. I would just friend her with a message, and leave it at that. Many people are very protective of their social network profiles and only allow in people they really know.
Raderick Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 When you "friend" someone, there a link called "Add a personal message..." where you can introduce yourself.
Author irc333 Posted November 12, 2010 Author Posted November 12, 2010 When you "friend" someone, there a link called "Add a personal message..." where you can introduce yourself. That's a big NEGATIVE.....and I was suprised....there was NO place you could add a message to say, "Hey, I'm adding you as a friend, okay?" Just that you can ADD them, nothing more....I found that very strange.
