My boyfriend and I have been dating for a while now, and he keeps mentioning the 'M' word and how he wants me to be his. and I'm pretty sure that's what I want as well. The thing is, he's originally from India and moved here 4 years ago and he wants to have the wedding in India where all his family and friends are and have it be a traditional Indian wedding. But I want to have it here in a more Western style (and my family is here). would it be very hard/expensive to try and have both? He apparently has a lot of extended family and they of course could not all fly here and my entire family couldn't all fly there. has anyone in an Indian/American marriage done this?

One of my friends had two wedding. The US one was pretty small and low key, the Indian one was bigger but I don't think it was that expensive.

You really should be talking to him about this though.

Most of the 'mixed' couples I know have done both, some have done one country only. Decisions have usually been made based on a mix of available finances, personal preferences, and taking family's points of view into account.

Regarding the bit in the bold, make sure you're not only pretty sure but certain before you go ahead - from what I can remember from your other thread, you haven't been together for that long yet.
