I've never heard such complaining about the women. New York is such a large city with many people. There are many different types of women to choose from. I grew up in another large metro area(Greater Montréal) and in these cities, dating is much easier. Go to a small town in the midwest and you'll see it's much harder.

Thats funny because so many of my husband's East Coast friends ended up with Midwest wives including him; I'm from the Midwest.

The last couple we made friends with was almost identical to us in this. The guy was like my husband, DC born and raised, spent a period on time in a city in the Midwest, and came back with a Midwest bride. She was from the city next to mine!

NYC is a great place to visit, it's like the entire world rolled into one city, perhaps the environment itself plays a part in the individuals who live there.

I could never live in NYC, too congested, too rushed, it's overwhelming. But otherwise, a beautiful city in itself.

Girls - thanks for coming to the party! :)

S - Funny proposal story, and what a great place to be proposed to!! Sometimes I hope I'll meet a nice polite Midwestern guy who loves living here and wants to stay! My Midwestern friends have the best manners.

J - Ironically, I think it's partly laziness that I moved here. I CAN have the entire world without going anywhere.

As my Dad always says now, "if where you live is where you are happy, that is all that matters".

Having said that, I have known people who have moved to NYC and hated it and I have known people who loved it and never left. I also know people who were born and raised in NY or NJ, and moved to the west coast, and hated it and moved back.

Try not to let the stereo type sway you, from enjoying what NY has to offer.

Of course in anything, there are exceptions to the rule. But the "thing" the original poster was talking about could very well be that. Because when I was there, and from what my brother and sister-in-law tells me, the rule tends to be that. But there are always exceptions to the rule.

This pretty much goes for any ethnic enclave. Some people want to stick with their group. I know when I worked at a record store there was this beautiful and nice as could be columbian girl that had a crush on me even though I chose my ex over her which was incredibly stupid in hindsight.
