I think you can tell someone from his/her username.

 

For example if it includes the word 'princess', 'doll', 'belle', 'barbie' or 'goddess', you can pretty much expect her to possess a certain personality.

 

If the username includes a funny reference, then that person is likey to be the playful type.

 

If the username includes words like 'passion', 'love', or 'romance', that person is likely to be the romantic/dramatic type.

Well, if you look at my username, do you think I'm EMO? Because I certainly am not. I also have a username on chattango with Princess in it, but that hardly mean I'm high maintenance. Sure, some usernames reflect the person who created it, but other times they're there for laugh, for convenience, or just for the h-ll of it because people's minds were blank when they created it.

I'm sure there are user names that do represent someone's personality but there are also user names that don't.

Most of the times, your username does reflect what you think about yourself. After all its an identity that you choose for yourself.

It certainly would but since we can not tell if something that seems random or stupid actually has some special meaning or private joke to the person using the handles we now end up with two possible categories to place those folks in. Gah, why are things never cut and dry...

That's sometimes true but not always. On the site I met my boyfriend on, my username included the word princess but I don't act like I have entitlement issues except that I expect to get the treatment I give out in return from the person I'm dating.
