Els Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 After many viewings, negotiations, and rejected applications (apparently a 1-year lease is too short for some landlords!), the bf and I found a lovely 2-bedroom house for ourselves, and signed the lease today. It was a much better bargain than I personally expected to find - pretty cheap, in very good condition and new, and in a superb location right between my university and his workplace! The bf liked it too; of all the places that we viewed, this one was the first and only time I'd seen him look so happy with a place. I guess things really do fall into place sometimes. We'll be moving in together in 3 weeks' time when his current lease expires. Finally no more walking for 20 minutes and taking a 15 minute bus ride to see each other everyday! I'm so used to bad luck that I'm actually finding it hard to relax and believe that nothing will go wrong, though.
carhill Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Hey, that's great.... I haven't kept up... are you and BF living alone in the new place? I remember him having a roommate. If so, I hope this gives you all the chance to really solidify your R and take the LD out of it for good
Author Els Posted November 10, 2010 Author Posted November 10, 2010 Yeah, he has two roommates now, but we will be living alone there. As for 'taking the LD out for good', well, no guarantees there sadly. Really only the next year is guaranteed, and our path after that depends on where I can do my Masters and PhD, as well as which hospital he can do his specialization in. But I'll take what I can get.
aerogurl87 Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Congrats! Happy you two found a place to live.
LisaLee Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Oh, congratulations!! And no roomies, too, bonus!!
LittleTiger Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Fantastic news Eslwyth. I'm so happy for you!!!
Ariadne Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 How cute! It does sound like a dream come true.
Omei Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 congratulations! are you excited for house decor too?
sally4sara Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Does this mean you can get a puppy or a ferret after all?
HeavenOrHell Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Great news Elswyth, I bet you can't wait!
Author Els Posted November 12, 2010 Author Posted November 12, 2010 congratulations! are you excited for house decor too? Hehe, not much decor you can or would do with a house you're only renting for a year! But I'll definitely add my own touches to it. It's the first time I've had the chance to have a house all on my own (bf is part of my own ) instead of sharing it with housemates or living under my parents' roof. Does this mean you can get a puppy or a ferret after all? Nope. Ferrets are illegal in NZ, period. Dogs, most rented houses disallow. Great news Elswyth, I bet you can't wait! You're right! I'm not looking forward to the part where we have to shift all of our stuff from BOTH of our current rooms though...
Author Els Posted November 13, 2010 Author Posted November 13, 2010 We're going to build a gaming PC together next year, too! I'll do the research and choose the components, he'll buy the parts and we'll assemble it together! Finally a chance to have an awesome gaming rig, and someone to share it with!

Can't imagine anything worse, but 'you go girl' - it sounds as though things are working out well for you right now. It's lovely to see such enthusiasm - I'm very happy for you.
