Wink Tobasco Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 The woman I've been dating for 2 months was visiting with her 2 kids. We were watching workmen use a crane to put roofing supplies on my buildings roof. A toad of some sort leaped off a bundle of shingles and landing on my deck railing. It was yellow with green spots. Her kids asked me what kind of frog it was, I didn't want to seem dumb so I said it was a "green-spotted yellow toad". They accepted that. I think I passed a test in their Mother's eyes. Then they asked if the toad was doomed by being so high up from the ground. I said it was doomed, if he jumped it would be to 2 story plunge to splatterville. Even if he found food up here, there was no place to hide, he would still likely get eaten buy a bird. Mom shot me a look. Did I blow it? Thet are aprox 7 years old, past the age of fairy tales.

No harm in not knowing the frogs name. You failed more than the potential step dad test with that one. I'm not sure about a 7 year olds ability to handle unpleasant news. Is this woman a serious relationship for the long term or are you 2 just having fun?
