Eclypse Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Just wondering, does it happen often that the person you fall in love with the first time ends up becoming your life partner? From what I've gathered from reading here people generally tend to find irreconcilable differences or get bored and cheat at some stage of most relationships
TaurusTerp Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 I never really understood first and last loves being the same person. It's like having hamburger once, then eating it every day and deciding its the best food in the world. How can you determine whats best suited for you without seeing what else is out there?

Author Eclypse Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 Only whales and geese mate for life. Don't settle for the first one you fall in love with. Experience the world. Good Luck We actually saw a really cute looking geese family at a nature park once Well I only bring it up because my girlfriend and I were each others firsts for everything. We talk about the future together but sometimes I wonder if that's a foolhardy thing to be doing at the age of 20? I wonder what's out there in the world.
welikeincrowds Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 We talk about the future together I wonder what's out there in the world. This is simple. If you wonder about the future, don't discuss it with her as though you don't.
mogul Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 I think everyone thinks that their first relationship is going to last forever. I certainly had that mindset and it usually just ends in disappointment.

Me and my first love use to talk about our future together as well. Now we are broken up. She left for someone else. That would be weird if she became my last love, but I don't care if she does or not.

From what I've gathered from reading here people generally tend to find irreconcilable differences or get bored and cheat at some stage of most relationships I would say rarely...If it's with the person you love and who loves you back, there is a higher chance; But if it's only just these"in love" feelings, prepare for youself it might not last..You can fall in love with the wrong ones and wont realize it until the head over heel in love feelings go away.
TheMENemy Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Yes, if you get into a car wreck on prom night.
phineas Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 My cousin married his high school sweet heart. 15yrs later. They went their separate ways for college & wound up getting together when they both started living in the area again.
Author Eclypse Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 (edited) Well thankfully prom night is several years in the past now for us! I really would hate to lose her, and at the moment I'm feeling very happy and satisfied 7 months in. I just hope that in 10 or 15 years nothing bad happens and we break up We're both from the same culture so that helps (get to complain to each other about annoying parents ). Interesting story Phineas, however they were apart for 15 important adult years during which they no doubt got other experiences. My relationship would be from age 19-death. Come to think of it that wouldn't be all that bad as long as we don't get on each others nerves Edited November 7, 2010 by Eclypse important typo
Els Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Certainly possible, but unlikely. A few of my friends are married or engaged to the only person they've ever been with - one of them has been with his gf for 9 years, and he's 24! Whether or not these people will last for life depends to be seen, though.
Crazy Magnet Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Of all my friends only one ended up with her first love. they have been married 9 years now and have three kids and are going strong. But that's only one out of all my friends. It happens, but it's rare. I think cultural influence will have alot to do with it.

It depends but it doesn't usually happen. A lot of people meet their first love early on in life and their too young to settle down. Timing is everything.
