tinklebell Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I just started marathon training. The other members are either coupled up or men. Probably because I'm a new member, the coach/organizer seems to give me more attention. I've noticed that he likes to put his hand at the small of my back as we walk and talk and that he likes to touch lightly on my back or shoulders. Is such touchy feely among friends or gesture from coaches normal? I don't want to be overly sensitive if he's only showing concern for a new addition. I don't get the feeling that he's trying with some hanky panky but I'm not sure this is 100% appropriate either.
Cee Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I'd surmise it's a dominance thing. He's the coach and you are the learner. But, to be honest, I'd hate for a man to touch the small of my back. A pat on the shoulder is ok, but I'd want him to back the f*ck off.
Star Gazer Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 None of my male CF coaches touch me in any way other than to correct my form when lifting. I'd think this particular touching (particularly small of the back) to mean something... What, I'm not sure.
