So me and my girlfriend have been together for a little under a year. We met last year when i was a senior in high school and she was a junior. We fell in love very fast and until recently have been totally in love and extremely happy. This fall i left for college about 3 hours away and try to come home every other weekend to see her. Everyone always told both of us not to get too attached because its impossible to hold a relationship through college but my parents did it and there wasn't a doubt in my mind about it working out. She always told me how she knew we were gonna break up in college but always get back together because she would realize how much she loved me the second she hung out with another guy or something.

About a month ago when i was home she was telling me how she wishes we could just live together and how she never wants to be with anyone else and even what kind of engagement ring she wants after college.

Well lately she hasnt been too happy and i came home and she said she thought about taking a break and basically begged her to give it another week or 2 before we decided that. Well last friday she was just really not happy and i had been doing every possible thing i knew how to do to make her happy all week. So i asked her if she wanted that beak and she said yes.

So i drove all the way home to clear things up and let her know i wasnt mad at her or upset with her or anything and basically thanked her for being so nice to me about everything considering she could have totally destroyed me. She told me she cares about me more then any other person in the world and she loves me but it feels like more of a friend love now because of college. She said she doesnt have that like new in love giddy feeling where you get butterflies seeing each other.

So we have been on a break for about a week now and talked everyday until yesterday where i suggested we stop talking because nothing really changed and she thought it was a good idea. Today is only the second day of that and i have already almost texted her about 20 times. She is coming to visit me at school next weekend and im hoping she will have a decision by then. What should i expect? Should i call her or text her once or twice before then to stay in touch?

I'm sorry that this is happening to you. A lot of the time, breaks lead to break ups. It sounds like there is someone else in the picture.

Thanks for the reply. However i know there is know no one else in the picture. She has been telling me that there is no one else she wants to be with and the thought of being with another guy disgusts her. She said the only reason she would want to be single is so we could both not hold each other back and so we could both be happier because she hasnt been happy lately

Well if she hasn't been happily lately, she will probably break up with you. I could be wrong though. I guess you will just have to wait and see.

I've said nearly the exact same things lots of times. In every single instance, I was either already seeing someone else, or getting ready to.

Never go into a 'break' situation blind or believing everything you hear from your SO. When a person takes a 'break' they are on the way out. To what extent they are on the way out determines how long it takes for the 'break' to become a 'breakup'.

Keep your eyes open and your heart safe, just sayin'.
