Sarah1977 Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Ok, so I have date set up for the 16th. This guy lives in a different state. He will be driving 2 hours (one way) to take me out. Because of this, I really feel like I should pay for the date. I mean, if you factor in his gas and his time.....I just really, really feel that is too much money for him to spend on a first date and I should insist on paying for the rest of it. What does everyone else think?

What does everyone else think? Offer to pay, let it go the FIRST time if he insists. Dont make a big deal out of it, but make the offer.

musemaj11 Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 (edited) If you are a truly genuine person, you will treat him on the date and explain to him why. Tell him you are very touched by his willingness to come all the way just to see you and you would appreciate it if he would let you return the favor as a sign of appreciation. If you are good with words, he will feel very appreciated and see you as an extremely considerate woman. But then again, if you want you can always have the cake and eat it too. Personally I wouldnt be able to sleep if someone drove two hours for me and I feel that I didnt do anything as worthwhile in return. But thats just me. Edited November 4, 2010 by musemaj11
dispatch3d Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 2 hour drive for a date. Uhhh I wouldn't want someone else to do that for me and I wouldn't do that myself. I'm not sure why. Probably because I don't want to date someone 2 hours away.....
TheMENemy Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 One thing's for sure: This guy isn't driving two hours for just a free meal.

TaurusTerp Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 $10 says the guy doesn't even try to kiss me. Would you rather have $10 or the kiss, out of curiosity?
Green Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 $10 says the guy doesn't even try to kiss me. I think its kinda unromantic to not even attempt a kiss.
