I've been lurking here for a month now; my partner recently got offered a job abroad and will be moving away in a few weeks. We've been together 4 years and lived together 2 so the prospect of it becoming a LDR has been rather scary. It seems like there's lots of friendly people and good advice here so I decided it's about time I stopped lurking as I suspect I may need plenty of advice come the end of November! :p

Anyway, hi!

Hi! I just moved away in Sept from my boyfriend who I have been with 6 years. We lived together for 2. We were also in a LDR before living together. It is only temporary and we try to see each other as much as possible but it's still hard. I totally know what you are going through!

It's not as bad as you think. You need to be creative, get good use out of your cell phone, and let them know all the little things that are happening. Little details provide an image for them, and it helps alot, as it makes you feel more a part of things. Seriously though... be creative!

For example: My gf and I just started watching movies together over webcam. We choose a movie, I put it on the TV, I adjust the audio/video for my webcam(tricky part) and then we can watch movies together :)

Everything you can do to interact or share the little things makes a world of difference... oh and by the way, its not the end of the world :) It's just another stage in your relationship, and its worth while exploring this other side of things. You're going to find that you get to know your partner alot better, or at least in a different way.
