MeganDoll Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Is it just me or are most single gay Men much more attractive then the single straight guys? These gay guys are in great shape have the faces of guys in soap operas and are just better looking
Knittress Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 I read this article on okcupid, and I was like - "Oh. OOOOOOH, that SO totally explains... I am so screwed." http://blog.okcupid.com/index.php/gay-sex-vs-straight-sex/
Tim The Enchanter Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 You like gay guys because they remind you of women.
sanskrit Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 You like gay guys because they remind you of women. Bingo, and this includes looks. The ideal of male attractiveness used to be heavy on male secondary sex characteristics and higher testosterone. 40 years of gender wars against this, and the male standard of attractiveness is now femme looking "cute" androgynous men. Hence certain women lament that "all the cute ones are gay" rather than the truth that women have been conditioned via years of marketing to find a more androgynous looking man attractive compared to a man with traditional masculine features. Most of the new leading men of today are "prettier" than in the past, Jude Law, Matthew McConaghey, Brad Pitt, Robert Downey Jr., etc.
Surrealist Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 What? Don't know what you're talking about? I'm hetero!
D-Lish Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Lots of gay guys are HAWT- until they start talking. "like OMG GIRL, I love your outfit" They make great BFF's, but they will never like your vagina.
johan Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Lots of gay guys are HAWT- until they start talking. Couldn't you say the same thing about straight guys?
D-Lish Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Couldn't you say the same thing about straight guys? Yes, that is true too!
abouttoloseit Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 You like gay guys because they remind you of women. LOL You made me spit my drink dude!"
welikeincrowds Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 40 years of gender wars against this Citation needed please. That is, I'd like for you to define "gender wars," and then I'd like you to prove that this was the reason tastes have changed over 40 years -- or so you say. Most of the new leading men of today are "prettier" than in the past, Jude Law, Matthew McConaghey, Brad Pitt, Robert Downey Jr., etc. When you do this, please incorporate the most popular male figures of the 60s, including The Beatles, JFK, Elvis, Mick Jagger, Jim Morrison, etc. I think you'll find that for every Jude Law, there's a Paul Newman; and for every Sean Connery/Steve McQueen, there's a Jon Hamm/Daniel Craig; and for every point you think you made in that post, you're actually full of ****. Cheers
sanskrit Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Citation needed please. That is, I'd like for you to define "gender wars," and then I'd like you to prove that this was the reason tastes have changed over 40 years -- or so you say. Shall I come up with a Field Theory while I'm at it? Give me a huge break, there is -not- a classically masculine looking female-oriented leading man for every pretty boy these days, and that's not something I need to prove, it simply -is-. When you do this, please incorporate the most popular male figures of the 60s, including The Beatles, JFK, Elvis, Mick Jagger, Jim Morrison, etc. No, because I stated quite plainly that my example was leading men in films. If you want to enlarge the discussion to include other types of attractive men, feel free to do so, but not by lazily concocting half-assertions. I think you'll find that for every Jude Law, there's a Paul Newman; and for every Sean Connery/Steve McQueen, there's a Jon Hamm/Daniel Craig; and for every point you think you made in that post, you're actually full of ****. Cheers Of the above, only Jude Law stars in female-targeted romcoms. And I have no idea who Jon Hamm is despite watching over 100 movies of all types a year. Thanks for the idiotically empty "fos" comment also.
loverofloveandstuff Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Is it just me or are most single gay Men much more attractive then the single straight guys? These gay guys are in great shape have the faces of guys in soap operas and are just better looking I've heard this time and time again but I've met more straight guys that are attractive than gay guys. That's probably because I've met more straight guys, period. Being overly groomed isn't that sexy to me. When a guy cares about what he looks like more than I do = not attractive at all.
welikeincrowds Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Shall I come up with a Field Theory while I'm at it? If you want to enlarge the discussion to include other types of attractive men, feel free to do soMeanwhile, The ideal of male attractiveness used to be heavy on male secondary sex characteristics and higher testosterone. Millions of women across the world found these pretty boys to be the sexiest men alive. If you need a Field Theory to defend your hasty generalization then by all means, start concocting one. You're the one who used the phrase "gender wars", not me. I should hope that you could explain what you meant by it. Especially since you later defined "marketing" as the cause, which sounds likely to be a completely different thing. I find it ironic that you'd identify any statement I made as empty, when I just got done showing you how your terms are hollow and your assertions unfounded. The difference is that I stated that claim -- and I gave you the reasons. I was hoping that you would be able to do the same, but you haven't yet, perhaps because your argument really is full of ****. Please show me that I am wrong. I'm sure what you have to share is interesting, if only you could explain what it is you're trying to say, and further why anyone should believe it. Now might be a good time to mention that you still have to bridge the gap between "androgynous men" and homosexuality. I wish you good luck, as the gay community does not appreciate this stereotype. But I won't fault you for it -- that's the hasty generalization the OP made. By the way, Jon Hamm is the star of the one of the best shows on television.
Tim The Enchanter Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 If I've learned anything about women in my life, it's that the majority of them still go for the typically male characteristics: height, strength, facial hair and confidence bordering on arrogance. This is why women tend to go nuts for rugby players, as those men embody the kind of men that women love.

Rumor was, he had an affair with Tyrone Power: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Tyrone_power_ragtime_1.jpg

This is why women tend to go nuts for rugby players, as those men embody the kind of men that women love. Amen to this. Gay guys might be pretty to look at. But that's what they are... PRETTY. I would never call them hot or sexy - not typically anyway. I like a real man! (no rugby players those, please..ugh!)
loverofloveandstuff Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Bingo, and this includes looks. Most of the new leading men of today are "prettier" than in the past, Jude Law, Matthew McConaghey, Brad Pitt, Robert Downey Jr., etc. This is a bit random but I think that women who have some typically masculine features (e.g. high cheek bones, defined jaw line, chiseled face) and men who have some typically feminine features (long eye lashes, beautiful skin, fuller lips) are often the best looking people.
Tim The Enchanter Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Women want a man who looks like he could ravage them if he wanted. Gay guys typically look like they couldn't punch their way out of a wet paper bag. As I alluded to before, there's a certain kind of woman that goes for gay men. It's because gay men are not as intimidating or threatening to these women as a straight man.
sanskrit Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 By the way, Jon Hamm is the star of the one of the best shows on television. Mad Men blows, full of misandry and political slant, which probably explains why it won the Golden Globe. It's certainly not one of the best shows on television other than in the field of set design, and that aspect of the show is somewhat overdone. Gender wars in popular dramatic entertainment is the left/feminist influence in entertainment that designates no roles for white men other than "cute femme looking leading man," "clown," "evil corporate criminal," "pedophile," "physical abuser," "psychopath," "racist," "adulterer," "ignorant hick," "cuckold," "military hawk," or "general dupe." Yes, there are exceptions, but they are few and far between.

flying Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 I thought of Errol Flynn as a rare exception when I was making my post, care to name some more? Sure! Tyrone Power I posted in the previous post; reposting here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ty..._ragtime_1.jpg Let's see...Leslie Howard: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/spain/3144604/Actor-Leslie-Howard-kept-Spain-out-of-WWII-claims-author.html Fred Astaire, of course: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/books/2008532443_br21astaire.html Cary Grant (to whom everyone compares George Clooney): http://lolitasclassics.blogspot.com/2009/03/cary-grant-1904-1986.html Jimmy Stewart: http://www.nndb.com/people/659/000026581/ Should I go on??
D-Jam Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Ah what would our lives be without MeganDoll's usual posts? In my book, gay men like men, so they worship the idea of beauty in men, and thus strive to attain it. There are "pretty" men out there who are straight, but they generally either are taken or staying single because they have loads of women who will give them sex without anything in return. Such is life.
sanskrit Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 (edited) Sure! Tyrone Power 1 The rest are classically male looking as far as secondary sexual characteristics, and though "handsome" don't look at all like today's femme- leading men. LOL @ Fred Astaire, my grandmother had a crush on Liberace, maybe include him too? But Fred wasn't particularly pretty. George Clooney is a modern exception. Even Tyrone has thick brows and pronounced facial features. Edited November 1, 2010 by sanskrit
Untouchable_Fire Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 I read this article on okcupid, and I was like - "Oh. OOOOOOH, that SO totally explains... I am so screwed." http://blog.okcupid.com/index.php/gay-sex-vs-straight-sex/ OMG.... The only thing that really shocked me is that 10% of women think the earth is bigger than the sun. .... and 5% of men... double This statistic should be 0% for both genders.
