My man's a total player and I'm okay with that ... is that okay?

So I've been with this guy almost steady for a few months now (hours spent together each and every day). He's a total schmoozer ... which I knew going in ... and I'm totally fine with it! Reading other comments on this forum where people express jealosy over their partners behaviour all of a sudden has me questioning if I should be this okay with it.

 

I myself am a bit of a flirt. We live in a small town although our main circles are a bit different. When we go out on the town we usually walk in together, mingle a whole bunch - meeting up now and again, and then leave together. He totally lays it on thick with any girl he's talking to and really, it doesn't bother me.

 

He lays it on thick with me too and I'm still navigating through when I should believe what he says to me or not. That bothers me a tad (wasn't major until reading stuff in this forum). In fact I had a conversation about this last night where I said to him I have problems believing what he says since he's such a flirt. After I expressed that to him he reassured me I could trust him to be true to me which I completely do - he said "Well that's a very important thing". He then said that he wouldn't be spending so much time with me if he didn't really like me which I assured him I believed he does - he said "Well that's another very important thing ... so what's the problem?" I then gave him an example where he texted me three weeks ago "If you never cheat on me .... I'm gonna keep you". Four days ago he said to me "I'm gonna keep you" to which I responded "You told me that a couple weeks ago". His response was "Now I mean it". It's kinda funny now because when he decides to turn up the schmoozing on me my response is usually "Liar!" and we chuckle about it.

 

I believe his actions which completely demonstrate how much he's into me - and in my opinion it's even quite a bit more than he'd ever admit to me schmoozing or not. What he says to me though I usually don't give too much credence to. Honestly, if it wasn't for reading this forum I wouldn't have been concerned about this at all but I'm wondering if maybe I have it all wrong?????
