yoga18 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Ok so I'm sitting here watching halloween trying to let these custom fangs dry in my mouth and thought about something I have questioned forever! Do guys prefer sexy halloween costumes or is better for us girls to use an imagination. I remember this movie called mean girls and one of the lines was halloween is the one time a year were a girl can dress like a "slut" yet not be called one. I ask bc there are some costumes that I love but wow they look like they belong in the bedroom or twirling around a pole! Girls what do you think of the slut costume? I'm going as a bloody vampire
Stung Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 'Slutty' costumes can be fun once in a while as long as they're unusual and creative also, IMO--but if someone feels the need to always dress as 'slutty' as possible every Halloween, it makes me think they're insecure or have a really one-dimensional and boring personality. Like if someone is a sexy kitty cat one year and a sexy nurse the next year and a sexy she-devil the year after that I'm internally rolling my eyes at them and how lame/unoriginal/attention-seeking they are. So, I'm not a guy, but my vote is definitely with creative, imaginative, or bloody/horrific, and my interest has been piqued in the past when I saw someone (male or female) in a unique interesting costume. I also think the way they market sexy costumes even to young girls these days is really gross--my stepdaughter is ELEVEN and at least half of the costumes marketed to her are sexy, it's awful. Fortunately she prefers it that we make her costume together, ourselves, every year.
Author yoga18 Posted October 28, 2010 Author Posted October 28, 2010 I was just wondering cause I always want to try the "sluty" ones only cause I never have but I like horrifying and bloody way better so I end up going to all these parties were half the women are dressed as sluty sailors, sexy nurses etc....I feel like maybe idk I'm the odd ball?
brainygirl Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I go as a homicidal maniac . . . . they look just like everyone else . . . .
Feelin Frisky Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I encountered a chick who was into that vampire thing so much she had her canines filed and capped with the fangs permanently--24/7/365. I used to see her around in NYC at clubs. When you first look at her as a passing glance never having seen her before and she's not showing the fang all the way, you think, whoa, she's hot but did I see what my mind is telling me can't be? Is there something going on in her mouth that is nosferatu? Then you check her out a little sharper and holy shi+, are those real? OMG they ARE real. I can't imagine having her come out of the dark at me--especially before I got it that she had those teeth installed. OK, carry on girls.
Stung Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 It has long been my personal philosophy that it is often better to be the oddball. The masses have a tendency to be petty and boring.

Even though its not a "sexy" costume I think I rock it and make it hot! Lol lovin the teeth

They were older, worked in smoke shops, spent all their free time clubbing and trying to seduce impressionable goth girls with their mysterious nosferatu. I think about them now, guys in their forties with permanent vampire teeth and dark fantasies still probably chasing after teenage skirt but obviously aging unlike the immortals they wish they were. Not so much creatively oddball as a bit sad, IMO.

I got a short crazy red colored wig, my hair stylist is cutting it cause she's good at that stuff, I made a bird cage veil with spiders and feathers....I'm not just a bloody vampire I've made it my own.

Oh, your costume sounds very creative, and interesting. I love the bird cage veil too, that's a nice touch (of course I am a fan of the birdcage veil, in general). I like the vampire mythos and I like bloody costumes and I have worn fancy fangs before and felt sexy in them. The people FF and I were talking about had their actual teeth permanently altered by dental professionals, so they would have fangs the rest of their lives. They identified so strongly with a myth that they froze themselves in time, not realizing that their lives would continue to grow and change, that they would age and their circumstances would alter; they couldn't admit they were not really immortal and had no mysterious powers. While I fully understand the pull of legend and the dark side and I immerse myself in it while writing fiction--and I understand wanting to be different-- I do find it a bit sad when people actually can't align themselves with reality, as it suggests to me that the reality of their lives is untenable to them.

I love the bird cage veil, if I ever get married I'm going to have to pick a dress to go with the veil not the other way around lol. So timeless just love it

So timeless just love it I actually thought that too, and I looked at a ton of bird cage veils after I got engaged. I decided not to wear a veil at all as we went with a casual outdoors wedding, but if I had worn one, it probably would have been a birdcage. So sassy.
