I was locked in a basement until I was 10, fed only tuna and Cheez-Its.

Luxury. I was locked up until I was 12, fed rat poison, and buried in the back yard!

(If my quip isn't understood:

)

Mmmm, tuna and Cheez-Its...num num num!

I was locked in a basement until I was 10, fed only tuna and Cheez-Its. But still I tell everyone that if only they follow their hearts, their dreams will come true! They can learn from my example: Now that I'm out, I can eat tuna, Cheez-Its, AND peanut butter. Heaven!

I must be really screwed up. :D

Don't take offense Truthseeker--he's just messing with you!

Oh I'm not upset - just puzzled at his reaction when I was trying to understand what he meant by common/social 'knowledge'.

That's not true. People on this board are so depressing and fatalistic. Did somebody hurt you long ago, so you have to bring everybody else down?
Where have I brought anyone down? Yes I have been hurt many times as many people have, but that's no reason why I should take it out on other people and I don't. In fact, when out I'm warm and friendly and greet people with a smile and I listen to them and empathize with them when they are in trouble.

Perhaps you should desist from offering advice, if it's only out of vengeance, resentment or spite.
Listen: I am not vengeful. I do resent some very bad things that have happed to me but I don't take it out on other people when it's not their fault and I'm certainly not spiteful.

I have not caused trouble on this board and have always tried to be understanding but I did wonder if you are a Troll but that was from an objective point of view, rather than spite. Then giving you the benefit of the doubt, I was wondering if you are genuine but when looking your answer, it would seem not.

Are you projecting onto others, your "vengeance, resentment or spite"? An objective question of course and you have not upset me at all (at least not for myself) and if you are not a deliberate Troll, then you need help.

I am tempted to say that you are just fooling around and you know if you are or not - we can only guess (but some have a good idea what you are doing and it seems that you have caused a lot of bother on these forums while I haven't). I might sometimes say something that is 'controversial' but I treat people with the respect they deserve even if they have different views to myself.

I have only recently joined LoveShack and on the whole so far, I find that it's much better than most and has few people falling out and fighting each other when compared with other forums. I have seen some very sensible remarks and good caring advice on here - unlike other boards/forums. At last a board where there is understanding and empathy!

Then you come along and spoil it for us, even when we try our best to help you. Do you really have problems that you need help with? Or are you a Troll? You tell me.

How about some honesty now? Why are you here? Is it to help others? Is it to find help for yourself? Both are valid but when you go accusing people of things they have not done, I can't help but wonder why you are here.

What is normal knowledge? Everybody knows enough to manage his/her life. And well, if you need to know anything, this is the information age, where all possible information is available at a click of the mouse. Good luck!

jean-luc sisko (ST:TNG/DSN fan, are we? Good man!) you are definitely truly, truly evil. It can be fun--and at times a bit disturbing--to watch. :)

Truthseeker-John, just take him as he is and roll with it!

P.S. Tuna and Cheez-its--highly recommend.

P.S.S. always_searching - just checked out the Monty Python sketch--I'd seen this one long ago and had forgotten. Classic!

Huh?

I didn't get that from the comment you quoted.

I think he's just trying to understand what you mean by "common knowledge."

Are you trying to bring joy into our depressed and fatalistic lives with your troll posts?

Cause it's working for me!

:p

most people who post advice here always post something negative, or something that doesn't immediately solve the situation. Granted, not everything in life has a ready or easy solution, but I don't see why problems cannot be readily solved.

I could teach you common knowledge if you want. PM me if you're interested

Why didn't you just say that in the first place, instead of hiding behind your trolling. Everyone has their opinions, you just don't need to be a smartass about it.

Personally, I don't find this kind of trolling on a forum such as this funny, rather I find it disturbing.

I am here because I want to know how to have normal knowledge of life.

So, "most people post something negative or something that doesn't immediately solve the situation." How are those people any more irritating than those who post vague problems and give no context or illustration of what those problems look like in their lives? Who deliberately post questions with no solution, easy or not?

Folks, I don't know why I can't touch my right elbow with my right hand. Can someone please help me?

I'm sorry that this whole thing makes me laugh--I know this isn't that funny in a forum like this--but it just does. Forgive me. :)

So, aren't you "evil" if you laugh at other people's problems? do you have an issue with self-importance? I see no reason to lend to it. it is my right to have the usual life knowledge. I will desist from saying this if somebody can objectively prove why I should not have it.

You have it.. you just are too busy whining that you don't have it to understand what it really is..

You practice it each time you go out in public.. each time you go shopping.. each time you go to the bathroom. etc etc ect

You seek to understand everything, to understand interconnections and frameworks of existence. Why would you give this up for acceptance of common knowledge?

Only if you actually had the problem you claim to have. I would never laugh at such a person.

However, if you had that problem, you would have provided some reasonable examples of what you mean by "common knowledge." You would say, "I don't know what to say to women. Just last week, I was at the grocery store when...." or "When someone approaches me, I clam up. I was in a meeting at work when..." As long as you keep speaking in riddles, I can make no other assumption than that you're joking. And when someone tells a joke, I laugh!

Now, you COULD prove me wrong by giving an actual example--you know, from your actual life--that shows a situation that you were incapable of applying what you call "common knowledge." So people could actually give you useful advice. If you did that, then I might feel very bad indeed.

Until then, not a chance. Your move. :)

i disagree. i think knowledge of life is innate.

I disagree. How you perceive knowledge is innate but knowledge, within itself, is learned. This encompasses all higher functioning animals including human beings.

Give 10 human beings the same piece of information and you'll find multiple reactions, from ignoring it, to leveraging off the information.

Now it's your turn. How is "knowledge is innate" true? Keep in mind that I'm looking for overarching proof.

I still don't understand.

Neither do I. I don't understand why this nonsense thread has gone on for FIVE PAGES.

The OP is craving any kind of attention. If what other posters wrote is true, this has become a pattern.

Don't feed the troll, everyone. I'm going to find other members with REAL issues.

Jean-Luc, why the eff are you wasting our time?
