cassie9 Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 I went out on a very nice first date last week, and got home and realized I never offered to pitch in for the cab or dinner. Now I'm thinking that this was rude, and he may be turned off by it. I know guys generally expect to pay on the first date, but I should have at least offered, right? Is this a deal-breaker?
Hop_prophet Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 No, not at first, but if it is a repeated pattern then yes. It does come off as a bit entitled but at the same time no offer should be made if it isn't sincere. I would really be turned off if a girl hadn't offered to pay for at least something after three dates.
D-Lish Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 No, it's not a deal breaker. Do you want to see him again? If you do see him again, you can offer to pay for something then.
strength-abounds Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Generally No. Just don't make it a habit.
nice-easy-day Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 You did the right thing for sure. If you let the guy pay it sends a signal that you are interested. After a couple of dates you should offer to split some of the cost. If he says no, then just smile and say thank you, that's really sweet.
