isdn00789 Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 I'm 21 years old. I am still in college, but only part time as I work toward my second degree. My job pretty much isolates me from people (I'm a software engineer currently). I need to figure out where I can meet some people... particularly some girls. What I'm after is: Where do people hang out, and more specifically, where do people hang out where they're not just engulfed in their current group of friends? I just don't know where to go. That said: I've been considering joining a gym so that I have better equipment to use for working out. I feel like this might be a descent place to meet people, but I don't really know... What do you think?

I met almost all of my friends in the area at the gym.

I met almost all of my friends in the area at the gym. Thanks! That is very encouraging! =) I'm assuming GTL is 'get the ladies'? At any rate, I think I'll definitely pursue that gym membership. Unfortunately all my time is booked up this week... Working 40+ hours per week and going to college is very time consuming. =/

Did you meet these people in classes that occur in gyms or just by encountering people doing weights, treadmill, etc? Author isdn00789 Posted October 28, 2010 Author Posted October 28, 2010 I'm gonna go with "Gym, Tanning, Laundry" a la Jersey Shore The only thing I know about Jersey Shore is that it is a TV show... I think. Seriously, I know nothing about it. Just curious... How did you meet them? Did you meet these people in classes that occur in gyms or just by encountering people doing weights, treadmill, etc? Of course I can't answer that question for him, but I assume classes would be the better place to meet people. At the very least it provides a common ground to make starting a conversation easier. lol, seriously though, is the gym really a good place? i always hated going to the gym because i'm like "nothing" because i'm not tall, and tall guys just loooove walking around and "feeling" their tallness I'm about 5'10, so I'm a fairly average height. That said, I haven't been to a public gym for quite some time, so I can't really comment past any further.
xpaperxcutx Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 As a woman, I don't particularly like to be hit on while I'm huffing and puffing and all sweaty. That's why I go to a women's gym. But that's me. I do know there are plenty of girls who like to be ogled at especially by the trainers. Anyways, you can always try the local night club lounges. Plenty of women who hang out in groups. My friends and I normally hit the hookah lounges in the city.
