So I have been trying to get a date with this really great girl. At first it looked bleak so I played the persistent card and she actually respected it and agreed. I knew the first date would be huge so I needed to make a great impression. I made her laugh all night and took her to a nice spot for dinner and drinks. I later dropped her off and was conservative kiss on cheek and hug and joked don't make me wait 6 months for a followup. She said don't worry babe I won't. I then sent the standard follow up text after the date. ok that was fine. This was Saturday. I decided to not contact her to not come off as needy creep of any kind cause the date went so well. She then text me last night and said I dont think I thanked you enough for dinner and drinks last night it was so sweet for you to take me out. I then replied anytime, the only thing we didn't do yet is set up a second date I had a great time. She then said i did not get a drunk text last night and I joked I was saved by a dead blackberry battery. She laughed. I never responded again because I did not want to come off to strong and risk having the last text. I think it is positive she went out of her way to text me again last night. I have not texted her today. When should I follow up and what is my next course of action with the communication, what should I say and what should I suggest for our next meeting? Advice would be greatly appreciated I have had a thing for this girl for quite sometime.

I would call her to set up the next date. Texting to go out on a date is for sissies. Call her and I bet she'll appreciate it as it seems more and more rare these days for actual "real-time" conversation to take place when dating.

As for what to do... Do you know of any mutual interests you two share? Museums, hiking, live shows, comedy clubs, etc? If so I would call and ask; "Hey, just seeing if you would be interested in going XXXXXX at 7:30 on Friday?"

Or something along those lines. That way you have a specific event and time, and you're not giving her an easy out by being vague on the time. She'll respond in one of three ways

1. By saying yes

2. By saying she can't that day and offers a day to reschedule

3. By saying she can't without offering to reschedule

So answers 1 and 2 are generally good, just make sure you set a firm day/time

If she doesn't offer to reschedule I would drop it and move on... My opinion.

I think you're overthinking this. I'm pretty sure she was texting you to hint that she wanted you to ask her out again. So it's all good. Call her!

As for the date, go with what the pace dictates. Personally, I like a day date, because it takes a little bit of the pressure off, and allows you to get to know her. Then you can have your third date be dinner, drinks, and then her place, or yours? :)

Yeah I think I should ask her tomorrow maybe Wednesday the latest right? She is a full time teacher and young 22 so I shouldn't wait much longer before she find something else today later in the week or loses the interest that she has? I think her texting me that a day later was a very good sign right? I was considering maybe a casual relaxing happy hour friday after work and then just see how that goes and suggest another formal date again if that causal happy hour goes well? does that sound alright?
