quankanne Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 I don't really like guys who are super-fit. If they have pics online where they show their abs, it's an absolute turn off. interesting that you bring this up ... I can look at pictures of someone from their younger days, then see current shots and automatically be more attracted to the older, er, "softer" version, of that person even if that person was buff back in the day. I guess because it's unrealistic or something to think of a person as being in "perfect condition" all the time. besides, it's no fun being gored to death by someone's hipbone
Green Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Tall and chubby, all the time! I've dated two guys, both 6'5". One had like 8% body fat, cuddling with him was very uncomfortable. Ugh. The other guy who probably had 20% body fat was adorable, cuddling with him was like...coming home. Wow even the memory of it makes me happy. I don't really like guys who are super-fit. If they have pics online where they show their abs, it's an absolute turn off. It's creepy. I hate the word creepy. It's such a girl thing to call everything creepy. The worst is when you hear a guy calling things creepy.
Knittress Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 I don't really care about a guy's body, as long as it's in the healthy range. I generally go for the skinny nerds, but don't mind a bit of padding either. 5'6-5'7" is shorter than I am though, and a bit of a turn-off.
Author Lakeside_runner Posted October 25, 2010 Author Posted October 25, 2010 These are all very interesting responses. I was out for a run this weekend and I saw a lot of couple taking a walk along the strand. There were virtually no rules and no laws on the attractiveness of both parties. I saw hot girls with good looking guys, hot girls with not-so-good-looking guys etc. you name it. The whole spectrum of heights, short guys with hot girls, tall guys with average girls - EVERYTHING!!!
Banker Chick Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 I'm 5'2" and physically fit and I'd probably go for either one. If I had to pick though, I'd say the taller guy but really only if he had a larger build to begin with -- not defined -- just a bigger guy in general. I love the big teddy bear look.

Author Lakeside_runner Posted October 26, 2010 Author Posted October 26, 2010 Yes yes the teddy bear look. Mmmm. Wow. This is something unexpected... Really? teddy bear look??? I am effin confused now...
Knittress Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Wow. This is something unexpected... Really? teddy bear look??? I am effin confused now... Yep. Not my tippy-top pick, but most women I know go for this. Then again, I don't hang out with fitness aficionados.
LisaLee Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Wow. This is something unexpected... Really? teddy bear look??? I am effin confused now... I have seen so many drop dead gorgeous women with teddy bear guys. They have an ambiance to them. I also never realized how much height is a factor for women until I came to LS. I have always been subconsciously aware that I prefer shorter men, but it really hit me after reading all of these height threads. But I never realized how so many ladies prefer tall guys!! 5'8 is my cutoff, anyone taller is not my ideal. I love my 5 foot 6 inches well defined boyfriend.

I didn't realize how much of a preference there was either. I've dated several tall men but prefer those under 6'. And I tried the teddy bear thing once--never, ever again. I always felt overwhelmed/crushed.
Star Gazer Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Wow. This is something unexpected... Really? teddy bear look??? I am effin confused now... Yup. The teddy bear look. Many quarterbacks have the look. Put his manwhoreness aside, and Matt Leinart's a perfect example... Kurt Warner's another. (Yes, they're on the fitter side, but even with some chubb they'd be amazingly hot.)

None of them is chubby! This is actually funny... while looking for a picture of a chubby guy that I had in mind I stumbled across this: http://collegecandy.com/tag/chubby-guy/ Let me say it for you though... "none of them, right?"

"none of them, right?" I know, I know...they're not chubby NOW... I'm just sayin', wait until they'd stopped playing for a few years and softened up. THAT's the teddy bear look. As for your link: There's only two pictures there? One skinny one, and one chubby guy? Still would date the chubby guy 100000000x over the skinny one. How about Jason Segal? He has chubby tendencies. http://itaintthatserious.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/apatow-gang.jpg Or Seth Rogan... Or Vince Vaughn.
eerie_reverie Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 I realize I'm probably in the minority on this on, but I am actually not into tall guys. I prefer someone close to my height +-2 inches (I'm 5'8) and muscular. A little bit of chub over the muscles is a plus.

that girl Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Lakeside Runner- I think the vagueness of your question might be part of the problem. Like how chubby is chubby? And height is often a big deal to women. I don't think I'm super hung up on height, but at 5'9" I think 5'6" is an inch too short for me. It isn't outside the realm of possibility, but I find the dynamic between me and a guy who is 5'6" or under gets weird (mostly on his side). I would feel differently if I was 5'5". Famous men are tricky to judge from since they're likeability on screen effects things. Personally, I find Jason Segel really attractive even though he isn't toned while Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill do nothing for me. But I think all three of those guys have gotten a lot of grief over their weight and slimmer Paul Rudd is more widely considered attractive.

This is on thing people should realize while being on LS. There may be tendencies that a majority will exhibit but it is impossible to say that something is definitely, 100% better than something else.

that girl Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 A big deal that he must be taller then her or that he must be tall in general? Again, it really depends but there are definately some girls who are very hung up on it. Thinking of my girlfriends, the height snobs always tend to be average to very short. I've known more than one girl under 5'4" who placed a big premium on the guy being over 6'. Ironically, since a lot of guys lie about their height, I've been introduced to more than one guy who supposedly breaks 6' when he is really 5'9". I know a lot of average height girls (5'3"-5'6") who prefer a guy in the average to slightly shorter range (5'6"-5'10"). Taller girls (5'7"+) are probably the most likely to be willing to date shorter. I'd be fine with a guy 5'7"+ but ideally I'd prefer 6'2"-6'4". It isn't anywhere near a deal breaker though and I've been attracted to guys of all heights. But again, these are just my friends.
lucylove Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 i'd say tall and chubby, but then again i am extremely tall. i like to be able to wear heels and still be shorter than him. but i would pick short over just plain fat. not into really rotund men. chubby is alright. shorter women might pick short and well defined. i think it depends on the woman's height.

quankanne Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Really? teddy bear look??? I am effin confused now... they're approachable, and they evoke a feeling of being cherished, or something like that. Seth Rogan's a cutie, as is Adam Richman from Man Vs. Food. Something about the way he interacts with people is a HUGE turn-on.
Author Lakeside_runner Posted October 26, 2010 Author Posted October 26, 2010 I'd rather be not chubby and alone. Agreed. I don't know, maybe because I'm a guy but to me a teddy bear-ish sweet and nice guy is the worst kind of a guy...
