Hi all....

A friend and I were discussing the continuing mess/farce that is going on with Mel Gibson and his ex Oksana Grigorieva.

We were mostly talking about how the children from his current marriage (I don't think he's divorced long-term spouse Robyn yet) and the little baby from the ex-lover are just going to get dragged through the mud by all of this. Basically, I felt pretty horrified at the idea that the kids will be watching this public humiliation going on, as well as having to deal with a divorce as well. It makes me thankful that whatever my own problems a least they stay out of speculation. In saying that, is it ever easy when the gossip starts? Even family members can take what starts out as a a really bad judgement on the cheaters' part and take it into family/friendship meltdown.

My friend (who runs a very successful business with her hubby) also said that the whole thing gave her the shivers. I guess I unserstood. Aside from the emotional fall-out, no-one wants to think that the third party is only out to get money. I think I would sooner forgive/come to terms with a woman genuinely in love with my man (never mind the impropriety of it all) than someone simply looking for an ATM/baby, or whatever.

What do you all think? I find the story interesting as well from the viewpoint of child custody and what it means when an extra-marital affair is involved...I know the whole thing is a mess, but regardless of the origions, I would probably want a WS to have a good relationship with his kids.

Celebrities don't live in the same world as you and I.

 I'm well aware of this.........

I thought the case interesting beacause the man is still married, the wife appears to have endured a bad marriage for years band the ex-lover is trying to get money out of marital assets.....something which can still happen to ordinary joes.....with a lot less cash involved.

Sin affects everyone involved - particularly the children.. and regardless the motives of the OW and WS.

Be happy he didn't marry her and the children would have to put up with the 'blending family' routine.

Good old crazy Mel married Robyn Gibson in 1980. They have 7 kids. In 2008 pictures of Mel and Oksana surfaced. Mel's wife files for divorce in April 2009.

Mel Gibson has slammed reports he's divorcing his wife of 28 years after he was alleged to be cheating on her...Gibson, 52, sparked rumors of an affair after he was snapped with a 28-year-old Russian singer named Oksana in September...

But a spokesperson for Gibson tells the New York Daily News the rumors of divorce and infidelity are "100 percent untrue."

"100% untrue i tell ya!" :D Therefore Mel and Oksana must have been "feeding the kitty" for at least most of 2008. Mel "claims" he was separated from his wife at that time. Who really knows. Oksana gives birth in Oct 2009.

"Mel is fantastic with kids," she says. "He's got seven of his own already, so he understands the dynamic of parenthood very well."

"He's a big kid himself, really – a real practical joker. We laugh so much.

Two months later the laughs stopped and because Mel allegedly assaulted Oksana in January 2010 and broke some of her teeth. In April 2010 Mel and Oksana officially announce their split. Then in June 2010 Oksana files a restraining order against Mel accusing him of assaulting her. In July all the Mel voicemail tapes come out.

I'd say it was only six months from the happy birth of their child until Mel and Oksana were a total freaking trainwreck! :p

ugh! What a mess!

And despite it all, his wife of 30 years had the class to say, "He never acted that way around us."

Could Mel be having some sort of breakdown? I wonder.....

sure is a mess spark!

BUt I tell you, a former colleague of mine was in a situation that left me just as gobsmacked! seems like such goings on happen in the real world too.

What I can never understand is why people try to hide the babies...at least until it's too late to say anything..it just makes everyone look and feel bad.

I guess I can understand the wife sticking with things for the sake of the kids/ longevity/ past love..

But if a woman really does love a man and wants him to be a good dad to her kids then surely sueing him is the last road to take?

Is it that people just lose their senses when it comes to cash?

There are definately no winners here.

Porcupine....

Mel Gibson is a devout Catholic. So is his wife of 30 years (7 kids!).

In the most conservative sects, announcing to marry a woman who is carrying your child is considered the Christian thing to do, even if it means divorcing your devout wife of 30 years...who is STILL saying supportive things about you..

I wonder if, once the baby was born, she upped the pay off ante so to speak.

Because it is hard to imagine his rage? And her taping the man she cough, cough, claimed to love.

Maybe the whole deal was designed to give legitimacy to his new baby while never actually divorcing his wife, plus some cash to boot.

I think his girlfriend changed the stakes on him, is my guess.

I think I'm ultra conservative.. I would never want the H to divorce the W for the OW. But I would hope that when an OW becomes pregnant, that her child know life - not be aborted.

It's my understanding he is selling properties in Calif and returning to Australia?
