carla Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 My sweetheart said yes. Everything was perfect. I showered him with little gifts all day. Then at about 6:30 I took him to the river front. I got nervous and messed up my perfectly memorized poem. Anyway he got the jist of what I was saying and said yes. I then took him out for dinner were the owner of the restaurant nicely planted a couple of other surprises. He was totally blown away and didn't suspect a thing. So now we are planning our small back yard wedding in the summer of 2005.
moimeme Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 Congratulations, Carla! I've been wondering about you all day! So glad to know it all went well!

niko1999 Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 OH CARLA! Im so excited for you! Wish I had kept the guts to do the same but a convo we had had about a week ago, makes me hesitant, I think he wants it in his hands. BUt that is SO WONDERFUL!
jmargel Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 Congrats carla May I ask why such a long engagement though?
Author carla Posted March 3, 2004 Author Posted March 3, 2004 The reason for a long engagement is so his mother can come over from Wales for the wedding. She comes over ever 2nd year. She came last year. It also gives us time to save some money. Even though we are going to go small it still costs money. With all of the regular monthly bills we don't have alot of instant cash. Plus now that we are going to have a backyard wedding we need to do some landing scaping that we've wanted to do but just haven't gotten around to. He wants to take me to Wales for our honeymoon. I don't know if it will happen or not.
Thinkalot Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 Hi Carla- I'm just back from hols...Congratulations!!! I'm so happy for you both. Good for you.
reasontosigh Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 Congratulations!!!!!!! Hopefully you'll also be able to have that honeymoon in Wales. My younger sister was stationed there for a few years during her Navy career -from what I recall, she loved it there!
