Judas
Hi, New member here, hello all! I have a question on interracial relationships, not that I am interested but would like to know out of curiosity. I am an Indian, and a few years back I experienced something strange while living in Melbourne. As a student over there, I had to go out with another student for some project; incidentally, it happened to be a white girl. So it's not like we were dating or anything; we were not even friends. The professor teamed us up, that's all. But when we walked through the streets, most of the people who gave me-for lack of a better term-a look of surprise happened to be other young (white) women. No man, either young or old, bothered to say anything or make any kind of gesture. Isn't that weird? I mean, shouldn't it be the other way around? Normally, it is only men who complain about how scary darkies are taking away their women. But strangely, all the look and gesture came only from women and not even once from men (and there were quite a lot, actually). Does that mean Australian society is different in that women (rather than men) are more conscious of race and such factors? Are Aussie women, to put it bluntly, more xenophobic than men? Is it therefore different from, say American or British societies, in this respect? Judas
