souvlaki Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 I had an online profile up on a dating site for a few months that I took down. I work in a bookstore cafe, and last night I noticed a guy there was staring at me. It wasn't long before he approached me and said, "I recognize you." I didn't recognize him. He said, "did we talk on some website?" I said that I didn't think so. Then he replied there was a girl who looks exactly like me who he corresponded with on a dating website. I realized now who he was, but I played dumb because I was embarrassed and taken off guard. He was this guy I talked to very briefly, but I ended up trailing off the communication with him because I had given up on the site. He was very insistent. He went on to describe how he looked in his photo. I shook my head. Then he said, "OK, sorry. Well, there's someone who looks JUST like you on the site." Then he apologized for putting me on the spot. I blushed and said politely, "sorry, it's not me," and excused myself. It was just awkward for me because I was already sort of embarrassed about doing online dating (it has a bit of a stigma attached), and I didn't expect to get approached by a guy from the site at work. But now I'm second-guessing. He was pretty cute. I still have his contact info, and I might be able to apologize for playing dumb and explain how I felt taken off guard. Do you guys think he was interested?
brainygirl Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 He approached you, that seems like interest to me, but I am sure being taken off guard like that wasn't comfortable. If you are interested, email him and explain that you were surprised.
