EmmaLou Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I have never liked how I look without makeup, and I use it naturally as well. A bit of pink on the lips, a bit of blush so I look alive, foundation to cover blemishes, black mascara as I dye my hair black but I'm naturally fair. I just feel like I can face the world and do anything when I am wearing it, as I don't have to worry about my skin etc. Then I met my boyfriend, who understands I need to wear it when going out of the house, but constantly fawns over me and calls me beautiful when I've not put any on. I think I look like a corpse (black hair, blue eyes, pale skin!) but he LOVES it, so I've learnt to love it too. Apart from outside the house of course. Or if anyone comes over.
OceanGirl Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I never wear foundation. In fact I don't even own it. My worst skin problems are that I get a pimple every now and then even at 31. But my skin tone is even and people generally think that I must wearing foundation! I wear some make up at work, more when I go out or on dates and none at any other time. For work, I will put light bronzer and/or pink blush on my face together with either pink or red lip gloss. I use an eyebrow pencil to even out my eybrows (I get them waxed every 4 weeks). I also use some neutral toned eye shadow and eyelash curler with a coat of mascara + highlighter on brow bones, cheek bones and collar bones (depending on what top I am wearing). For nights out, all of the above + more intense eye shadow + eye liner + lipstick (I am a big fan of red lipstick) I have no issue with people seeing me without make-up since difference is not that drastic...
loverofloveandstuff Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 My ex had her eye liner tattooed on. When I went to Asia SO many people had their eyeliner tattooed on... Not only that, but many also had their eyebrows waxed off and their eyebrows tattooed on. It looked really bizarre to me and especially in the older women, very unattractive as their tattooed on eyebrows had started to take on a bluey tinge. As for myself, I wear eyeliner, mascara and lip balm. I don't usually like the look of foundation. I actually think people look much better without it if they have decent skin... I admit though, I have issues with people seeing me without eyeliner. I feel naked without it! If I'm staying at a guy's place, I'll sleep with it on. (I know, terrible). It's waterproof so it doesn't come off when I wash my face in the morning.

I don't like how it looks and in hot weather it's just Also, if you wear it on a date and put your head on his shoulder, it tends to come off a bit and stain his shirt...hate it.
james3232 Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Hello everyone! And Guys: Do many women let you see them without any makeup on? What do you think the first time you see them completely natural? And what do you think of makeup wearing in general? Thanks in advance everyone, this is something I worry about quite a lot! Of course.............I prefer women with little to makeup as a matter of course, however, there atre times when it's apropriate, such as when going out to a nice event or when they on the way to work in a professional environment where it is the norm. Women were attracting men for about a million years befor makeup was invented, don't read too much into it.
angielove Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 The only time I wear make-up is when I go out at night (eg. clubbing). And even then it's just eyeliner/eyeshadow, mascara and blush. My skin is alright - I still get a couple of spots - but I just cannot be effed to apply foundation/concealer. I don't wear make-up to work or uni cuz I'm way too lazy. Every guy I've been with says I look much better without make-up. But it was always at the start of the relationship or a one-night stand so they may have just been saying that to try to get on my good side/into my pants haha! So yes, guys usually see me not wearing make-up and I don't have a problem with it. Sometimes I'll wear make-up to work if I'm going out afterwards, and I have noticed that soooo many more guys will try to hit on me (I'm a bartender) when I'm wearing make-up than when I'm not! So even though guys say they like the natural look, my experience says otherwise.
brainygirl Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I wonder if its just that we have this cultural expectation of make up being equal to being sexually interested and available. And that's why the difference between make up and no make up. I also kind of have to worry about people who say they won't or are afraid to be seen without it on. Makeup is not a hood or a mask, if you wear it right, it hides nothing, only slightly changes the shade or apparent texture of what's already there.
FearandLoathing Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I wear makeup whenever I leave my house. I'm pretty young still but my skin is not even at all and I still get some spots and stuff so I just feel more comfortable wearing it. I only wear foundation to even out the skin tone and some blush and mascara though, I'm too lazy for anything more. My boyfriend sees me without makeup all the time, he says I'm beautiful with or without it . I feel comfortable without it around him because I mean...if he's seen everything else then why not a natural face? haha
Knittress Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 If I don't wear it I look tired and more masculine. Granted, my idea of makeup is a few dabs of concealer + mascara + a sheer lipgloss that matches my outfit. Basically all the evolutionary cues of being chock full of estrogen and turned on.
In The Green Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Sometimes I'll wear make-up to work if I'm going out afterwards, and I have noticed that soooo many more guys will try to hit on me (I'm a bartender) when I'm wearing make-up than when I'm not! So even though guys say they like the natural look, my experience says otherwise. Same. I get a ton of more attention when wearing makeup than going without. Not sure why guys say the whole natural thing is better when our experience tells us different? I've also noticed that guys are kind of clueless about makeup and can't tell when we apply a more natural looking makeup. They think we're going without, which is pretty funny.
Insanitylater Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 (edited) most women have huge insecurity issues brought on from being raised in this sh*thole superficial society we live in. The media, your mothers, sisters, friends, etc cause you to be addicted to makeup as you grow, and anything else that you THINK you need to look good. Regardless of what guys say, women will continue to dress up for each other, and to boost their confidence, which is obviously pretty low at anytime they aren't using a crutch(makeup, eyelashes, hair dye, pushup bra etc) When do you ever hear other women in your life say "you look fine the way you are" no all you hear is "here try this you will look better" Edited October 16, 2010 by Insanitylater

Makeup is not a hood or a mask, if you wear it right, it hides nothing, only slightly changes the shade or apparent texture of what's already there. Thats the problem . . . it goes hand in hand with the women that say "dont approach me at the grocery store, gas station, bank, etc" DO approach me when " I'm out for drinks, at a club, at a social event" A lot of women seperate their identity with the "mask" Its ok to approach me when I am ready for you looking my best, but dont dare look at me when I am not ready for you. You would think in a normal world, a guy would get kudos for liking what he sees when shes NOT all done up, but nope, in a womans mind that is the worst thing guys can do Edited October 16, 2010 by Insanitylater
loverofloveandstuff Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 When do you ever hear other women in your life say "you look fine the way you are" Um... all the time. Also, got no idea what you're talking about with the whole 'women don't want to be approached when they are not wearing makeup.' Any of my friends would be flattered if they got hit on makeupless. What an ego booster.

Insanitylater Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 (edited) Care to link me? I don't think I've read any thread where a woman has been approached makeupless, and is complaining about it. Hello everyone! I have never let a man see me without makeup I wear "natural" makeup in professional settings, and sometimes in casual ones. I would never want to let anyone see me only with makeup on. I know some women who do this, and since you get accustomed to seeing them with makeup always, they usually look like the walking dead without it. Funny how this thread is started with the exact premise you are asking to be shown Edited October 16, 2010 by Insanitylater

I didn't ask you to show me how women can be insecure without makeup on.

I guarantee you will never go on your "nights out" with no makeup, as you falsely state "I have no issue with people seeing me without make up." Thats a total contradiction.
Insanitylater Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 I asked you to show me a post where a woman is complaining about a man approaching her when she had no makeup on. I think you're a big girl that can handle that yourself, if you really care about it. I dont need to lift a finger to prove anything to you
