I wasn't an OW in this case but I did date a seperated guy (divorce was in process) who complained bitterly that his soon-to-be-ex didn't understand him, didn't support him, nagged him unmercifully and wasn't loving towards him.

Flash forward two years; I'm living with this guy. And guess what? After a year and half of romance, he's turned into a real pig! He comes home at 3 AM after drinking with his friends and 'forgetting' about dates we'd planned. He's rude, arrogant and demeaning towards me. He stubs out cigarettes in my best chinaware. He insults my friends.

If I'd stayed with him I'm sure I would've turned into a nagging shrew too!

Just remember OW, when you're the mistress you get all the romance. ONce you cross the line into 'wife' or 'significant other', you get the real guy.

What person is EVER going to say 'my spouse gives me a hard time all the time because I am a lazy/useless/rude/selfish/ignorant boor'?????

OF COURSE the OM/OW seems like a saint - until you live in close quarters. The success rate for marriages resulting from affairs is VERY low - doubtless for just this reason. Your tale is an excellent cautionary tale, Karlisle.

come on... doesn't anybody feel sorry for the poor guy? I'm just kidding. I feel bad for everybody in the situation but more so for the one who doesn't make the choice to be in that situation.
