It is obviously a waste of their time, if they spend longer amounts of time doing exercise at a very low intensity.

Yes, I just don't get it when someone takes the time to go to the gym and then whimps out on the weights or is afraid to put in some intense effort.

Ever wonder why people don't just cycle or row outside either? It's because it's not always convenient to do so.

Treadmills are convenient and you can tailor a routine to meet specific needs. Treadsmills are easier on the knees and they force you to run at a set speed. When you run outside, it's hard to maintain a constant speed. You can't just run anywhere - anyone who runs outside regularly, as I do, knows full well that you usually have to plan a route.

I agree. As you get older, protecting your knees becomes your highest priority! Plus, in my case I have severe allergies from the middle of summer until winter, so there's no way I'm running outside.
