I used to go to the gym everyday for one or two aerobics sessions and some circuit training and I enjoyed the visual hilarity of guys training in front of the mirror, wearing lycra bike shorts and watching their moose knuckles moving in sync. the chicks can be just as amusing.

I would laugh OUTWARDLY, if a women farted loudly RIGHT in the middle of a group execise class. LOL.

Or better still, in the middle of one of the Pilates or Yoga type classes, because there is no music in them....

I have a weird sense of humour. Don't mind me.

Unless he looked exceptionally handsome , not sure I would want to see his backside like that , lol ! :lmao:

WHAT? So a man was wearing tight bike shorts, with NO underwear, and he had a big HOLE in them so you could see his butt crack? WTF? do people have NO decency?

Well, if it was a very hot man then... I don't mind:)

STAR - hope that was not directed at me; if so, I actually want to improve my fitness, because I need to be healthy and fit for my own well being.

Although I do see the gym as a good place to meet people in general, and I happen to enjoy the social interaction, seeing as I am alone a lot at thi sstage in my life.

What makes me laugh?

  • Women in full make up and not even breaking into a sweat because the do bu%%er all real exercise
  • men who do so much work on their upper body that they have no neck and then do no work on their legs so they end up with a huge torso and skinny legs
  • men who look as if they are really working hard and then when I go onto the machine after them, I have to increase the weights
  • people who spend more time on their phone then on their workout

I was watching this nut do one arm preacher cable curls the other day while texting on the other. Didn't make me laugh though so I guess it is a bit irrelevant to this thread.

annoying to me. why do people when they're using dumbells have to clang them together??? the worst are the young kids.

So I was having a conversation with one of my gym friends about creepin' at the gym, as he was having some trouble figuring out a way to approach this one girl...so I suggested that when the girl was on the treadmill, he should hop on right behind her on the same treadmill and say hi...I figure there'd be enough room for two...

Yay or nay...? :confused::laugh:

The only thing that ever made me REALLY think "OMG" at the gym were the gals who would come in there, hair and make up

It even more disturbing when it is a guy!!!!!

When a young women puts the key into the lowest weight on a leg exercise machine and they whip it up and down like air. Like whats the point.

I can never go to Gold's gym again because of a faulty ascent onto some mid evil torture device obviously set up for noobs.

People who walk on treadmills! I mean, come on. You can walk ANYWHERE. These self-same people probably drove to the gym when they only live a mile down the road.

Well you can run anywhere too...

Agreed. And, he was oh so not!

Yep. People who use treadmills at all make me laugh! Unless it's snowing or hailing, why not just run outside?

I am guilty of this. I guess being in a gym and around people who are also motivated to do excercise, makes me motivated.

Same thing as a library. I know I can study at home, but at home it's so hard to find the motivation! I like going to libraries to study because it gets me in the zone.

Yes, but if you live in a city, running is not always convenient. You have to stop to cross roads, avoid people, avoid pollution etc etc. That is not a problem when you are walking.

Ever wonder why people don't just cycle or row outside either? It's because it's not always convenient to do so.

Treadmills are convenient and you can tailor a routine to meet specific needs. Treadsmills are easier on the knees and they force you to run at a set speed. When you run outside, it's hard to maintain a constant speed. You can't just run anywhere - anyone who runs outside regularly, as I do, knows full well that you usually have to plan a route.

I wear makeup to the gym... :( A lot of times I am coming from work and school and i'm certainly not going to take it off.

Personally, I could care less what people look like- I think it's just good they're there! And that goes for the overweight, skinny bitches, macho guys, whatever.

It should be an environment of support, not criticism!

Why not? It's bad for your pores. Just stuff some Ponds makeup wipes in your gym bag, and do a couple swipes at your face before you hit the gym floor.

Another thing I thought of...

People who search for and wait for the closest parking spot to the front door, when there are TONS just about 30-50 yards away.

Even worse. My old gym was on a retail park. Some would park in the disabled bays right outside the gym rather than walk a few extra yards.

I am only just starting to run, so I want to know what speed I can handle at first, and progressively see myself improve the speed, distance, or both.

If I run outside, sure, I will know when I feel " better", but I want numbers thanks. I want to KNOW that I am running faster and further than I did the previous week.

Besides, there is nothing BAD for your body by opting to use a treadmill, so no harm is being done, unless you have sustained an injury and shouldn't be running to begin with.

STAR - I wear mascara ALWAYS in public, but I do not wear foundation, so I simply just keep on my mascara at the gym. It is no big deal, as it is water proof and does not run.

OH and LOL - about people who try to park close by, yet want to desperately lose weight! haha.

Some of you are rather critical though - so what if those thin girls come in and only lift teeny weights, or walk on the treadmill for an hour. It is still better than NOT doing ANy exercise.

I'm not so sure it is. Often what I observe at the gym is NOT exercise. Their heart rates barely elevate, if at all, and they lift weights so light that they can barely feel it.

It is obviously a waste of their time, if they spend longer amounts of time doing exercise at a very low intensity.

Although technically, walking for one hour on a treadmill, is still more beneficial than being sedentary, and not bothering to do the walk at all. Taking an easy walk does not deliver superior fitness, but it DOES provide SOME small health benifits.
