Luckily Golds is where both the serious trainers and young female 20-somethings go to workout...:laugh:

Grrrrrrr...

24Hour/Bally's and another chain in my area are pickup joints.
See, I never noticed this. Most of the people at the Bally's I went to in WA were there for serious work. I would go in there and spend 1 1/2 to 2 hours doing a total of about an hour of cardio, two different types, and the rest weight training. I didn't pay much attention to anyone else UNLESS they were acting like they were the only ones in the gym and everyone else be damned. Like the ditzy gal with the bleached hair and the fresh makeup who was getting in my way while I was trying to do my weights. She was WAY too busy worrying about getting the guys' attention. Dumb bubble headed little thing.:laugh:

Oh, only two people come to mind. One was such a nice guy, was there almost everytime I came in to workout. He was rediculously huge I told him he must live at the gym and he just told me no that he recently got back on steroids, like it was nothing. I always thought that was odd.

The other was a middle aged man whom I saw from time to time. He would typically come in later in the afternoon so I would usually be the only woman there, usually on the tredmill or bike-thing. He would moan and make sex noises when he did pull ups. Not directed at me at all and he never said anything to me but it was so awkward and funny.

And there are always the people who come in and work out or 15 minutes and leave.

The only thing that ever made me REALLY think "OMG" at the gym were the gals who would come in there, hair and make up all done, and spend an actual, maybe, 10 minutes lifting a few 5 lb weights but spend all KINDS of time chatting up men. I mean, seriously go the f home and get the hell out of the way of people who are in there for a purpose.

You are just jealous Donna. :p:p:p

Guys who make loud noises when doing their weights. Sure, it is fine if they cannot help it, but seriously? Do men need to scream very loudly?

I can understand them doing it duringt he heavy.difficult weights or exercises, but at times it SOUNDS like something they do on purpose, or perhaps unconsciously they do it ( they believe they are naturally doing it), when what they are really doing is wanting to do it for show.

Any one else have any thoughts on the guys who yell loudly at the gym whilst exercising?

I was with a PT once and a man was doing the yelling thing, and the trainer was like " yeah, he's an idiot haha!". That trainer competes in figure competitions and if HE doesn't scream himself, I just thought it to be more unlikely for a less fit man to need to yell.

But I could be wrong!

I'm never jealous of another gal. I got plenty, baby!

Okay. I just recalled another situation where I had to inwardly laugh. The man who said to me, "Man, I wish I had your upper body!" lol And he WASN'T referring to my boobs!

I had some GORGEOUS definition at the time. Had been working out like a FIEND. Was doing a three mile power walk during lunch 5 days a week, then after work 1 1/2 to 2 hours of combo cardio and weights. I was in the most incredible shape of my life.

GAWD I miss Bally's. :(

I was visiting my parents one weekend and decided to work out at the gym there...while I was standing around, two older ladies came up behind me and said, "excuse me...but I wish I had your calves..."

Lesson learned: I have girly calves.

Well, there's a happy medium. I like to get to the biz and get my workout done. There've been times when a gal will be SITTING on a machine I want to use just TALKING to someone on the machine next to them. For, like 15 MINUTES! Then, without doing any more work on that machine, she gets up and goes to the locker room.

Totally ! I would ask her if she was going to work out on that and if she kept yakking yakking on her phone or to a friend standing there and not using the equip I would have to get obnoxious ( maybe hehe ) and ask her again !

Why should I have to do that though ? People should respect others right to use equip.

One gym I used to go to , if you saw someone waiting , you wrap things up or say " About 5 more minutes " and most polite ppl nod and wait their turn.

You DONT sit on the machine and yak with ppl...unless the gym is totally empty but even THEN why are these ppl paying dues , to hang out ?

Here's an incident that did NOT make me laugh.

In the gym I belonged to for a short time after I moved back to my homeland, they have a deal where, with the right health insurance, you can get $20 of your monthly membership paid for providing you actually use the gym. Well, our lovely REPUBLICAN governor opted for his employees to NOT get this with their health plan. As I was working away on cardio, not once but twice I've seen a woman (different one each time) drive up, park their car, get out, walk up to the door, swipe their card, then get back in their car and drive away, obviously to make it appear they were going to the gym when they were not.

TOTALLY pissed me off!

At the gym i went to before i moved a few months ago, there was this guy who you would always see flexing in the mirrors all the time(every gym seems to have one). never saw him ever workout, then he would take off his shirt and walk around for a while before he left :lmao:

Another gym i was a member to years ago, there was this lady who would make moaning sounds when she would workout  Always made me wonder how loud she must be in bed;)

This was a funny read. Oh crap I might be one of those guys you chuckle at. The guy who benches reps with 245 but can't squat 185, while his GF squats that for a warm up.:o I least I have an injury excuse and I have

made progress. Got to start some where.;)

sorry, wish I had more funny experiences. I seem to just have a bucket of peeves--like continuing to run or walk in the wrong direction on the track for the day specified because you're "special" or, neglecting to ever bring a wipe-off towel with you because you're "sepcial" and the only one on god's green Earth who dosen't leave sweat puddles. I'll stop before I really get started.

No annoying people in my gym, but plenty in the swimming pool.

There is a lane for slow/medium speed and a lane for fast. Some people just swim up and down the middle of the medium lane, makes it awkward when you get to the end to turn around, and they tend to splash a lot. If you want to go fast, get into the fast lane!

I am swimming round clockwise like I am supposed to, but some people decide they want to just stop and stand up in the middle or go the wrong way. Seriously, it's not that difficult to follow simple instructions. If you don't want to do lane swimming then don't come into a lane swimming session, wait half an hour for "general swim" session, you can muck around in the water to your heart's content! Lane swimming is meant to be for serious swimming!

I'm approaching the end, where there are several people standing chatting, and just as I start to turn around one of them decides to start swimming, right in front of me. Do those people not know how to drive, because if they do, they must get into a lot of accidents pulling out of junctions!

People who keep hitting my feet from behind. If you want to go faster than me, pull out and overtake, I won't be offended. Don't just keep on whacking my feet with your arms. If you don't want to go faster than me then give me some space, the pool is 33m long!

I will make all kinds of noises sometimes, but I don't think I have ever screamed while working out. The guys who do it all the time have just formed a habit. I guess it is a release of some sort and mentally allows them to push a little harder. Still doesn't explain the need to do it every single rep though...

A lot of guys do that when throwing punches and kicks too. Awkward showmanship that turns into a habit. I've seen guys who let out a loud grunt or a little "TSSSST" sound even when throwing a slow jab into open air.

Or the girls with the orangey fake tan , who are afraid to sweat and break a nail. Come' on this is a GYM ! :):lmao:

There was a man using the bike in front of me wearing sweatpants with a big hole in the back...no underwear. I hope I was only laughing inwardly.
