shiftedblue Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 My little sister (she's 17) is going through a big break up. She and her boyfriend were together two years, and he practically lived here. My ex and I broke up a month and a half ago and well, it's funny (not funny literally but you know what I'm saying) that I feel a little better to have someone else to coach through the extreme pain of the first few days. Not that I want her to feel this. I feel awful for her and I honestly love her more than anyone in the world, but it's weird, it makes me feel stronger. I guess I feel like I have to pull it together for her. I guess that's one of the reasons why we all love Loveshack!
TaraMaiden Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 You are experiencing the sheer Joy of Compassion, Loving Kindness, Equanimity and Empathetic Joy. The Four Immeasurables. In short, it's always better for the soul to help someone in the mire, than it is to wallow in our own swamp. In this way, we not only help them out of the mire, but we clear out of our swamp, ourselves. weird stuff, but good, huh?
Ajax Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Well you beat me to using that thread title I was hoping to use it at some point in the future, it seemed fitting. But I think you got it right, we all like to have someone going through the same thing. Sorry about your sister though. A two year relationship ending is hard enough, especially if you're 17. It seems like it's breakup season. Besides myself (anyone interested in my story can check any of sevral posts): My cousin's GF is starting the breakup process. Neither of them are strong enough to make a clean break though. It is definately an unhealthy relationship. One of my friends from Highschool was basically cut off by her BF when he found a new girl. A friend from college split from her BF of two years because it was a LDR and she's ready to settle down. He wouldn't budge.
Username37 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I too am 17 and going through a break up. Feeling better though and so will your sister. Tell her to keep her head up for the future is AWESOME. And the ex? **** em!
