This fascinates me. Seriously kid, what do you think men did before you could go on the Internet and watch some free porn every single day? And no, most guys didn't actually own porno magazines.

It's a relatively "new" idea, this notion that guys have this absolutely uncontrollable urge to constant be getting off, almost like if they weren't able to, they would die. And this idea that porn has become a necessary tool for the job.

I seriously don't understand why "sex addiction" isn't being taken more seriously in this day and age, because I truly believe it's a condition that seems to go hand-in-hand with porn addiction - another thing people like to pretend does not exist. What ever happened to self-control? Self-respect? Not being a sleazy self-indulgent slob? Did that go out the window with standard definition tv and using a phone to call people?

What really bothers me is how this mentality has become so mainstream these days. So many seem to actually believe men must get off constantly, and anything less is just ridiculous, so you can't deprive them of porn no matter the cost, it's "cruel" as the OP says.

Totally agree. SO many men out there defend their porn use at all costs as if it's "normal" male behavior. it's what the defenders say... "it's how men are, ALL men watch porn, can't fight biology" blah blah blah. Us women know how men are, we know they think about sex all the time and are constantly horny, but do they stop and think that maybe, just mayyybe they aren't as much biologically like this as they are moreso a product of their environment? I think men have it backwards... they are extra horny because of their porn-watching, not the other way around. Perhaps todays men are this way from being over-exposed to porn and naked women and nasty pictures and dirty movies and the general belief that women are here for their sexual satisfaction.

Do we really think men were THIS horny way back before internet porn, even magazines? What would all you guys do if the internet just crashed out for good and left you with no MB material? Probably many of your intimate relationships would get a LOT better.

The short list:

Fashion magazines

National Geographic

Lingerie catalogues

Comic books

Photographs

Television show with favourite actress

Paused film scene

This isn't new. The internet just makes masturbation material much more readily accessible.

Big difference between your list and internet porn as far as masturbation "material" goes. I'm sure most men would agree that it is far easier getting off to an actual video than a paused film scene. Sure, men have been jacking off since the dawn of time, and I'm sure they've always had some sort of material, even if only in their head, but men jacking off isn't the issue, it's what they're using these days that IS.

Absolute bollocks. In the days before the internet, I would grab hold of anything and everything that I could wank to - sexy bits in films, clippings from the lingerie section of catalogues, Sunday Newspaper fashion magazines, the list is endless.

If I had the nerve to have got porno mags, I would have got them. When I finally built up my own stash, I treasured it as if it were the most valuable thing in the world (which it was, in a way).

The internet for me has been an absolute godsend. And ironically, I probably masturbate a lot LESS than I used to, because now I don't have to worry about where to get my material. I have access to the highest quality porn that suits my own tastes to a tee, and I can watch it whenever I want. It's fantastic.

Wrong. Who said we paused the film? One of my favourite wanking scenes was, and still is, the limo scene with Sean Young in 'No Way Out'. I don't pause for that. Other favourites were Juliette Binoche in the film 'Damaged' and Kim Basinger in '9 1/2 Weeks'. All pre-internet, all wanked over many, many times.

And if you were to take a look at the average man's porn stash, you'd find plenty of photos in there. I don't always watch videos and have an extensive library of pictures.

Isn't getting any sex, as if its all dependent on the one partner . . . . what's contributing to the situation? What has the male partner done or not done to improve the situation?

What's he to do is to work on the relationship.

Most women just have a low or non-existant sex drive which is why so many men look at porn in relationships. You can't really work on that, it is what it is. I wouldn't even try to get the woman to like sex more because that's impossible, I would just leave her alone when I want it and take care of myself instead.

The only reason men look at porn in relationships in the first place is because the woman either have a low sex drive or not any sex drive at all. If I was in a relationship where the woman never wanted it and she also didn't allow me to please myself I would just leave.

You are a woman so I doub't you understand what it's like but unlike women men can't go months and months without having sex or getting off someway :)

So it's sleazy to look at porn? Women just don't get it. Men are completley different, I'm not saying we absolutley need porn but it makes things easier to do it... Most healthy males need to get off atleast once a day, but hey I guess most men are sleazy slobs for doing that.

You are a woman, you can go years without even touching yourself down there once. Most men can probably go a few days a week tops maybe and then they have to get off someway. You don't understand what it's like.

What do you suggest men do then? Just abstain from masturbating and sex completley if their SO doesn't want to have sex? What should single men do then, should they abstain completley from looking at porn if it's so sleazy and only slobs do it? Give me a break...

Dogs are so horny they will hump someone's leg. What do you think makes them horny? Doggy porn? No. They have a penis, testicles and testosterone coursing through their body.

This is going to come off as snarky, but I assure you that I am genuinely asking a question:

Have you actually ever had a relationship with a woman? I really want to know whether you have any real-world personal experience with a real-live human being, instead of hearsay and conjecture based on stuff you read online or wherever.

This is just ridiculous... If you have been in a relationship where the girl is waiting for weeks, months or years to fufill your "needs" it is probably because you aren't fufilling hers. Especially the need to feel desired because you may very well be letting her know that you are in a relationship with your computer.

I need it once a day. I have been extremely frustrated without it and I consider leaving my marriage daily because of my husband's fixations.

I cannot believe what I'm hearing. Yeah, it's sleazy to masturbate to Internet porn everyday. There's nothing appealing about a guy who has to do that, and there's nothing "healthy" sounding about him either. Watching porn is one thing, getting on the computer to get off everyday is quite another.

That's your addiction to porn speaking. Your sex drive has been accelerated by the thrill of watching unrealistic sleazy porn every single day. If you feel this is a daily need, I assure you it's an addiction.

You are a woman, you can go years without even touching yourself down there once. Most men can probably go a few days a week tops maybe and then they have to get off someway. You don't understand what it's like.

Thanks for showing that you know nothing about women's sexuality. Women like sex too, most enjoy it fairly often in a relationship. But god knows they cannot compete with Internet porn, and it's everyday availability. Not all women can satisfy a porn addict who thinks he has to rub one out every time no one is around.

What do you suggest men do then? Just abstain from masturbating and sex completley if their SO doesn't want to have sex? What should single men do then, should they abstain completley from looking at porn if it's so sleazy and only slobs do it? Give me a break...

Have self-control? Contain their addiction? Have respect for themselves and their women? I do not believe it's common that most guys, especially young guys are "so" sex starved that they have to resort to an alternative.

For single guys I dunno, maybe they should... GET OUT THERE and start looking for someone, instead of spending all day masturbating to Internet porn and finding that more enjoyable that actually being with a woman.

I don't want my wife constantly checking out my boss' house and dreaming of his lifestyle and of the salary he makes. That makes me uncomfortable and insecure. It can only lead to bad feelings.

She doesn't.

For my wife, me checking out porn and looking (and wanking) over other women's bodies makes her uncomfortable and insecure. It can only lead to bad feelings.

Applying the golden rule, I elect to install a content control program on my own computer. Nobody told me to. I did it and my wife doesn't even know I did. I need to enter a password and specify some options to be able to view porn. Too much work.

I'd rather walk out and grab her ass. Easier, and makes her feel good about herself. So far, it has worked well.

But I have what I consider a very very good marriage with a fantastic woman for nearly 20 years.

I feel lucky--don't wanna eff that up. Making her feel uncomfortable and insecure is one sure way to eff that up.

Absolute bollocks. In the days before the internet, I would grab hold of anything and everything that I could wank to - sexy bits in films, clippings from the lingerie section of catalogues, Sunday Newspaper fashion magazines, the list is endless.

I don't doubt they did use those things before. Too the excessive and fiendish level of today's porn gluttony, that I doubt. Then, everything was in moderation. There was a much greater respect to reality, moderation, and intimacy. There's just no way you can say that about a lot of guys now, especially those who watch porn everyday.

If I had the nerve to have got porno mags, I would have got them. When I finally built up my own stash, I treasured it as if it were the most valuable thing in the world (which it was, in a way).

That's a bit sad. You treasured it as the most valuable thing... instead of say, maybe another human being? Is this forum made up exclusively of lonely, socially incompetent and single young men?

The internet for me has been an absolute godsend. And ironically, I probably masturbate a lot LESS than I used to, because now I don't have to worry about where to get my material. I have access to the highest quality porn that suits my own tastes to a tee, and I can watch it whenever I want. It's fantastic.

What kind of sense does that make? When you had less means to masturbate, you were somehow forced to do it more? Right...

Dogs are so horny they will hump someone's leg. What do you think makes them horny? Doggy porn? No. They have a penis, testicles and testosterone coursing through their body.

You're not a dog.

Dogs also pee on whatever it is they come to first, why don't you do that as well? And please don't tell me you do, or that you would if it weren't frowned on.

If you read history books or stories from past centuries, you'll see that men were always horny. Before there was easy access to porn, men were using all kinds of other means to 'get off'. For example, there used to be a lot more cheap prostitutes in North America & Western Europe in the 19th century. A higher percentage of the male population was using their services on a regular basis.

This is redundant. People have always been into sex, not just men.

Do you have any sources to the claim that "more" prostitutes existed then than now? There is a perception of this due to the fact that now it's illegal and then it wasn't. Anyhow, it still goes on, despite the heavy presence of porn. And do you think we could accurately compile statistics for all men of today who still solicit prostitution? No.

Men want to get off all the time because of evolution. Men being horny all the time ensures the continuation of the species. There wouldn't be 6 billion people in world now if men hadn't been horny all the time long before porn.

This is a non-argument. I'm not that stupid. I understand biology and how sex plays a role. The problem isn't biology, it's the thrill and addiction to easy, instantly gratifying, self-indulgent behavior behind closed doors. Just like any drug addict would sell their soul to maintain the high, and avoid reality.

The second thing is, this society is extremely sexualized. The average guy is going to be exposed to stimulation whether or not he deliberately watches porn. It is impossible to turn on TV, look at a magazine or go anywhere without seeing someone who is attractive. The reason a lot of men don't have erections poking out of their pants all day is because they jerk off at home. If a woman walked around in tight clothes in a place where men didn't jerk off a lot, she'd probably get molested.

We have a problem, yes. But society does not have this problem due to the nature of men, hyper-sexuality is a result of good old fashion manipulation and exploitation, the long-running philosophy that "sex sells". And those who sell it are laughing all the way to the bank.

pornography today is distorted and twisted. it leads your minds to unrealistic places. men start thinking their wives are freaky enough because they won't do painful or degrading things and somewhere in their minds they may feel they are missing out. its also a quick and easy way to get off. without the work involved in a relationship. it can make a man lazy sexually. why spend an hour working out with sex with your woman when you can get off quickly to porn. it puts ideas in your head that you don't realize until a decade later when you are alone with just you and your porn because your woman left you. trust me, my ex hubby is alone with his. it also makes a woman feel like she has to compete with unrealistic images. we are real women, we are not digitally enhanced, air-brushed, touched up nor can we spend hour making our bodies screen ready for any position, (even enema's) so we look like you think we should from these unrealistic images. because we are too busy trying to be in our life with YOU. it also can make women feel like they need to do these degrading things, painful things, hurtful and harmful things because you see these other women do it. we just can not live up to that because we want to be loved and respected by out partners, not degraded. this is just a small part of the negatives of pornography. the only positive is helps you "get off". hmmmm...which one sounds more like a healthy choice. and many women do like sex. but when we see that our guy is looking at porn. we no longer want to be with him as much because we want a guy that makes us feel like we are special and unique. and him watching porn shows us, that he can find anything with a hole just as attractive.

Well, because as others have also pointed out, you have some very strange ideas about female sexuality and desire...the kinds of ideas people get when they have no firsthand knowledge. (But for some reason, want to sound as though they do.)

I could tell you the many things I disagree with in your posts; I honestly started writing them down. But this stuff is just so wearying; if you really want to believe that women have no sex drive and don't care about making relationships work and whatever whatever, hey, it's your life and you're free to see the world however you want. Why debate it? Frankly I doubt what I'd have to say would make any headway anyway. So, basically, I asked that question out of curiosity, and to see whether I guessed right. Asked and answered, thanks.

Watching porn once a day is completley normal for guys all the way from their teens to their 30's, the majority of all guys do it although offcourse there are exceptions. You really are delusional and know nothing of men if you think otherwise.

You seem to have the idea that masturbation and sex is dirty and wrong. Most women think that. It doesn't always even have to be with porn, but MOST men get off atleast once a day. That's normal for men , women are different you don't want to have sex or masturbate every day but that's because men and women are different which you don't seem to understand.

I think there's a bit too much gender bashing going on here from both sides.

As for my 2 cents: I like porn and watch it quite regularly. It relaxes me when I'm stressed or my gf isn't around. When we are together we have the most amazing, mind blowing, monkey sex. I think she is the cutest girl in the world and I have never EVER compared her to the girls in porn. The thought just never crossed my mind, so I think it may just be paranoia for some women. My relationship with my gf is fantastic and I love getting her off!:)

Ditto for me. I used to watch porn with my last two girlfriends. They were smart enough and mentally secure not to over-analyse it and make it more than it was. My ex even asked me if she could watch lesbian porn with me, because she is bi-curious.
