NeoGen85 Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 As an artist I never really been a big fan of tattoos. I'm not saying that I hate them, but I do find that a bunch of tattoos can look slack especially if their fairly basic. Not to mention their appearance gets even worse if you don't maintain it over the years. My girlfriend has stumbled upon a tat craze. It started off with a small tattoo in her pelvic region. I thought it was kind of cute. Then she got some fairly basic tattoos down the left and right side of her upper body. And today it was a giant turtle on her upper back. And I know she's not done. Someone asked me why am I have a growing hate towards it. At first I said that I didn't, but now I see what they're saying. I find woman to be beautiful as they are, and I would hate to see my girlfriend get lost in a bunch of tattoos. But it's her body.. She just doesn't plan it out as well as others(I'm even talking financially too), and it's all just happening so fast.
AverageJoe Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I once took this girl home. She was hot, not one tat I noticed. Very primpy girl and just smokin. I dont mind tats either, but she had one. Well, we got down to biz and I found a tat. Yeah, just one. It was dead center lower pelvic area just above the ole' vajayjay. It read; Property of Peter. I couldnt go through with it. I questioned myself why I couldnt for weeks after that encounter. I just couldnt go any further. Ex boyfriend? Or was it in a literal sense? Who the hell knows. Maybe this should have been in the tacky thread.
Feelin Frisky Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I'm so with ya NeoGen. It's our privilege to behold a woman's exterior in all its natural glory. It's millions of years in the making. Marring that with self-inflicted graffiti is a sacrilege. She doesn't have to see it, we do. And personally I can't stand having my eyes directed to a blemish no matter how ornate she thinks it is. Change the clothes, the style, the make up but don't trash the precious canvas.
Mad Max Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I have 9 tattoos myself, so I'm in no place to judge a girl if she has any. But, I swore to myself that when I did get them, they would stand out.
Author NeoGen85 Posted September 10, 2010 Author Posted September 10, 2010 This last tattoo hit my heart really hard. It wasn't the fact that she was getting another one that just totally put me in a bad mood for awhile this afternoon. But it was how she went about it. One day she told me that this guy giving her these tattoos wanted me to design an album cover for him. So I manage to talk with him, and I found out that he does it inside his own home which put me off completely. He said that there was too much BS doing it in a certified shop. Then he asked me what I could do for him, and after giving him a quote he was expecting a $55 design(I'm not in high school or college anymore). I'd figure that if he couldn't pay me properly, he probably doesn't have the proper equipment for doing tattoos. I have a co-worker(who does tattoos as a second job) speak with my girlfriend about going to his shop(or another) and getting one done. He also explained to her safety and some of the cons of underground tats. Even after his conversation with her and me saying that I would pay the difference if money was an issue; she still decided to choose an unhealthy environment. I got a picture today sent via text and I see the guy working on her back in his own kitchen. Not to mention there's no bag over the gun to prevent cross-contamination! And what's hurt is she pretty much shrugged off what I had to say because she had to get it today and could not wait on me.
USMCHokie Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I'm a fan. But getting them done in a clean shop is an absolute MUST...anyone who doesn't is just an idiot...
Star Gazer Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 There's only about a 0.0000001% chance I'll ever get a tattoo (I just don't like them on women), but I love, love, LOVE them on men.

Star Gazer Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 So you won't mind if I get two more...? Not at all, please do!!!
Feelin Frisky Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 ...but I love, love, LOVE them on men. Then you'll love Sing-sing.

Holy crapola. Yea, "scratchers" are no good. Nothing good really ever comes from them, except cheaper prices.. but that isn't saying much at all. Get the stuff done in a shop, where its CLEAN and STERILE. I, along with everyone else here, cannot stress that enough. Anyway, I do feel ya on original statement you made.. suddenly getting that itch for tattoos. I have a handful myself, and they're mostly all covered. There was a girl who I had met earlier this year, super pretty and a good persona all around.. but had the most randomly placed, half finished (at least they looked it), tattoos.. and it was just so silly looking.
controlledchaos Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 i have 5 and i LOVE them. most people don't really even notice them and when they do they usually inquire or tell me they like them. to each their own. :-) i love ink on guys! but, in moderation.... all things in moderation. tattoos and piercings are VERY addictive. but, they really do need to be well thought out and SPACED out as well. it's an injury on your body and your body needs to heal well between each new project. maybe you could approach her from that perspective? that her body isn't being given adequate time to heal........
Knittress Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I don't go around admitting to my heavily tattooed friends that I just don't like tattoos. Well... that's not exactly true. What I don't like is people getting tattoos that don't fit their overall style, or slapping something randomly on their skin that doesn't compliment the shape of the area (floating on the calf = no). There are just WAY, way, way too many people in my area using their bodies as doodle-pads and it is just F-UGLY.
rlindzie Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I have 3 myself, and i spent a lot of time plannign them and had a very expierenced artist do them. I get so many compliments of them from men and women and i have never been turned down bc of them. But i agree that anyone man or women covered in them is not to my taste but there are ppl out there who really like that look. But you are right to be concerened bc the manner in which she is getting them is very unsafe and sounds like it could be a fase which she will end up regretting them a lot if its the case. I think you should have a serious talk with her about slowing down, way down. It is her body of course but we all need a wake up call, and at this rate she could really end up hating them, and removal is not pretty or painless. I think you are right to be worried about this bc you care about her and clearly dont want her gettin in over her head. I feel for you
Untouchable_Fire Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I don't like tattoos on a woman they look trashy overall. However, since it seems 70% of the female population has decided to get one... I can deal. However... boob tattoos are so nasty it turns me completely off. Also face tattoos are crazy unattractive.
USMCHokie Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 However... boob tattoos are so nasty it turns me completely off. Also face tattoos are crazy unattractive. I completely agree here. I am NOT a fan of tattoos on the front of the body, on myself or on women.
Star Gazer Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I completely agree here. I am NOT a fan of tattoos on the front of the body, on myself or on women. Bummer...
USMCHokie Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Bummer... And where on the front of the body are you thinking...?
Star Gazer Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 And where on the front of the body are you thinking...? I take it back. I want your love lines exposed and bare skinned... ;) Sigh...
USMCHokie Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I take it back. I want your love lines exposed and bare skinned... ;) Sigh... Which is precisely why I won't get anything on the front...
elaina Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I've always wanted to get a tattoo like a butterfly or dove with an olive branch or a dolphin, but just a little one and that's all. but I don't know if I ever will. but I love, love, LOVE them on men. Tattoos on men = HOT!
Star Gazer Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Tattoos on men = HOT! Aren't they?? And when they're on a HOT guy, they're just that much better...
tigressA Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I don't like tattoos. I will never have one myself, and there are few instances in which I would be attracted to a guy who has more than a couple of small, discreet tattoos.
elaina Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Aren't they?? And when they're on a HOT guy, they're just that much better... I can barely breathe just thinking about this combination of a hot guy with tattoos!!
