elaina
Hello, I was wondering what men generally like to be called by their loved one? Do you like to be called Baby or Darling or a special nickname just for you or your name or what exactly? Thanks.
anne1707
Seeing as I would hate to be called "baby" I would never call my man that. I am not his mother
Author elaina
Seeing as I would hate to be called "baby" I would never call my man that. I am not his mother Yeah I've always wondered how the generic term "Baby" came to be applied to both men and women in love, but they are two different definitions for the one word. I sorta like being called "Baby" even though I like "Sweetheart" so much better and "Gorgeous" and "Beautiful" even moreso!, but I'm not sure how many guys like being called "Baby", though they don't seem to mind it seems? wuggle
Seeing as I would hate to be called "baby" I would never call my man that. I am not his mother From a male perspective, I would not be at all happy being called 'baby'. Knicknames cool, but baby NO !
Philetus
Hello, I was wondering what men generally like to be called by their loved one? Do you like to be called Baby or Darling or a special nickname just for you or your name or what exactly? Thanks. It's all good. I don't mind 'baby' one bit. I prefer nicknames 'cause it's something special between the two of us.

yamanbt
"Baby" is what strippers and hoes call their tricks...therefore I would prefer that it not be a pet name for me. Of the pet names my gf uses for me, I really like "maestro" and "big sexy." However, I hate it (and she knows I hate it) when she uses some variant of the word "cutie" towards me. Author elaina
"Baby" is what strippers and hoes call their tricks...therefore I would prefer that it not be a pet name for me. Really? Didn't know that. Of the pet names my gf uses for me, I really like "maestro" and "big sexy." Cool! What are other nicknames men like? However, I hate it (and she knows I hate it) when she uses some variant of the word "cutie" towards me.Lol, I have been told by male friends not to call them cute, cause I have been guilty of that, but apparently it's "girlie" or something? Sweetie and Sweetheart is also not acceptable nicknames for guys right, cause they are considered in our culture to be more feminine traits? What about Darling or Dear? I don't really like Dear because there's so many "yes dear" jokes and it just seems to have taken on a more sarcastic meaning or something.
Author elaina
I see this in music too a lot.. Britney Spears One more time.. Oh baby, baby Oh baby, baby Oh baby, baby How was I supposed to know That something wasn't right here Oh baby baby I shouldn't have let you go And now you're out of sight, yeah Show me, how you want it to be Tell me baby 'Cause I need to know now what we've go LMAO WTF... I may enjoy being called baby if I were into infantilism or something, but usually I cringe and want to slap the frig out of guys that get called baby by hot woman...errrr. Lol I like this song that goes like "baby baby baby ooooohh baby baby baby nooooo" I forget who sings it but he's a popular young singer, but does baby have a more feminine tone to it or it is more unisex? So you don't like then the nickname Baby because its main meaning is a baby? What do you like to be called, personally (if I may be so nosy)?
Feelin Frisky
I'm good with baby. Sugar is fine. Honey is nice. Honey pot is pushing it. Darling seems a little dated. But I can take it if it's sincere. Nothing more musical to my ears that a female voice telling me "oh baby, I'm gonna cum".

I think your safest bet is some variation of the word "sexy." We all like to feel like we are hot or sexy. The rest really depends on the guy. For example, I like it when my girl calls me "maestro" but I know that is something not all guys would like. I would also stay away from sweetie and sweetheart, too. If you really want to turn him on, you could call him "daddy" but you might not be down with that.

But I can take it if it's sincere. I think Darling is charming. That was my personal nickname for my exfiance, but I don't think I can call another man that, because it was special only to him. Baby was my personal nickname for my exhusband, and I don't really want to call any other guy that. Nothing more musical to my ears that a female voice telling me "oh baby, I'm gonna cum". Yamanbt, I really like maestro to call a guy, or sexy yeah. Daddy I don't like, but Papacito yeah is fine, (and yeah I know they are translated to mean the same thing but still, Papacito sounds erotic to me and Daddy is what I used to call my Dad long time ago, and yeah is nothing sexual about it.) Sphere
I don't want pet names and I don't want any nicknames. I'm not a child and therefore do not need to be treated like one. Saying my first name is more than enough.
NYCGirly
I was never much into the pet names thing until my last ex. He would always call me "babe" so I eventually started referring to him as "babe" as well. Don't know if I'd ever go as far as calling a guy "baby" though.
Dante311
My last real gf (not this last ****up of mine) she called me 'babe' and a cutesy nickname... I kind of liked it. heh.
Author elaina
My last real gf (not this last ****up of mine) she called me 'babe' and a cutesy nickname... I kind of liked it. heh. I don't think it's bad to call a loved one babe or baby. I liked calling my exhusband baby and I didn't mean it to as its definition "infant" or think anything bad or that he was a baby in any way. Oh and it wouldn't let me edit my last post: I just want to make clear that Daddy was what I used to call my Dad when I was a little kid and no he never abused me, and no I don't think it's bad for other women to call their boyfriends/husband "daddy" I just wouldn't do that, though "Papacito" sounds erotic to me. Yeah, I don't like being called "daddy". I'm affraid I can't stand being called "papi" either much less Papacito. "aye papi give it to me, oye papacito, aye carajo conyo, mami wants to get it, yay papi give your Pueto Rican princess la grande punyeta... He liked to be called Baby though, and called me Baby too. Agreed, like Baby, it is something your mom or Granny calls you. I even hate it online being called Sweetie or honey I mean are you my frickin grandma?... I would like to be called dude or a pet-name like Herc(as in Hercules:laugh:) Now if I had a girl..I would call her wife or hey you as well as dude.... Dude is romantic/erotic? Herc I like that. Hmm, I like hey you it's a bit sexy but I tried calling a guy that before and the look he gave me didn't encourage it. Edited September 4, 2010 by elaina
NeoGen85
I don't know. For me it all depends on how much swag you have while speaking. If you sound just as bad as an American valley girl speaking Spanish without the accent please stop. As far as my nickname being baby I'm not liking the idea. But if you call me that every once in awhile that's fine by me.
Dante311
You can't just say that and not tell us what it is. Spill! You'll have to force it out of me. It was a cutesy nickname for a reason.
Rorschach
Never bothered me much, but I never gave much thought to it. My old GF used to call me velveeta cause I'm so cheesy.

Rorschach
That may actually be an insult haha, no I admit that I AM cheesy I have a very active sense of humor, I see humor in EVERYTHING but my sense of humor isn't the same as lot of peoples. For instance while I make jokes pretty much at any opportunity I can alot of them are bad puns or plays on words which I, of course, think are hilarious and most other people just give me I liked that nickname
melodymatters
Pet names must be personal, can NOT be recycled amongst partners IMO. As far as baby, move to the South east portion of the US, EVERYONE calls their partner Baby. Like in the Johny cash movie " Walk the line" when June carter mocks JC saying " Baby, baby, baby" and slams the door in his face, I burst out laughing and was like " Yup" them's are southerners all right !
