Krytie TV Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Well, the worry ride is finally over, and the parenting ride begins. Our daughters were born at 32 weeks and were both barely under 4 lbs. It's amazing how quickly it all happened. From the time my wife suspected her water broke at home to the time they were finishing up the C-section was about 2 hrs and 30 minutes and there they were. They are amazingly healthy for such little girls. Lungs were working despite no steroids and all they need is some supplemental oxygen. It's very humbling to hold a < 4 pound little girl in your arms and listen to her squeaky cries. I'm so happy.
TaraMaiden Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Oh please let me be the very first on LS to congratulate you and thereby claim the post of Honorary Auntie! Well done, Congrats to all of you!!!

Jilly Bean Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 That's super news! Congrats on your new family! When will everyone come home?
quankanne Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 what wonderful news, congratulations to you and your missus! ... in about 13 years, you're gonna be on here asking about the legality of knee-whacking when the little boys discover your daughters
Author Krytie TV Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 When will everyone come home? Well, I believe the wife will be coming home on Saturday. The girls, on the other hand, will have to stay until at least week 34... so two more weeks. If they're doing all that they should be doing, including keeping their temp in an open crib and bottle/breast feeding, they can come home then. Otherwise, it's day-to-day until that happens.
Art_Critic Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Congrats Krytie... My heart skipped a beat when I first read your post.. They do grow up sooo fast... and 2 girls .... whew...they will be dating in no time and keeping you on your toes.. I'm so happy for you and your wife...
Stung Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Congratulations, dad. Your hands are going to be full but you're going to be so happy. Best of luck over the next few weeks as everybody adjusts to their new lives.
Pyro Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Two girls? Wait about 15 years and see how fast the grey hair develops. Kidding around. Congrats sir.
Stung Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Two girls? Wait about 15 years and see how fast the grey hair develops. . Pfft not EVEN that long!
Author Krytie TV Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 My brother has a 20 yr old daughter. His words of wisdom when I told him the news the next morning was, "... enjoy it. Before you know it they'll grow up, get pregnant, and steal your car." I just got home from an evening of "kangaroo care" with the girls with my wife at the NICU. I just can't get over how amazing it is to have brought them into my life and how humbling it is at the same time. I know it all changes, but for now, I'm an absolute sucker for the three women in my life
Jilly Bean Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Sounds like your wife did a great job! Are your daughters identical or fraternal?
Author Krytie TV Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 Oh please let me be the very first on LS to congratulate you and thereby claim the post of Honorary Auntie! I told them all about you, Auntie, and about how you love pit bulls just as much as we do.
ComeUndone Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Congrats to you all! Enjoy these moments... time will just fly by!
