nokturn Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 3 months and 3 days today. Getting out of bed every morning isn't as hard as it used to be anymore, where it felt like I had a pit in my chest. Although I can't exactly say that I'm doing much better. I do however feel a difference but I can't put a finger on it. I still go through ups and downs every single day and it sucks. I've gotten into this "routine" almost every day where I would go out for a drive and stop at the bookstore and get some coffee. I feel like it's somewhat refreshing. The only thing is I always see places -- restaurants, stores, etc. where her and I have gone and it just brings back a lot of memories. It sort of conflicts with the purpose of going out to clear my head or keep my mind off of things.

I've got a restaurant where we used to go. Now I've had 4 dates at the same place and it revive almost no memories at all.

I know that I still associate places with my ex, but creating new memories for those places sounds like a good idea.
Username37 Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 I tried replacing those memories, but they will always stay. I honestly cannot cover that stuff up.

I was miserable because I was avoiding all of the places that I used to enjoy since they would remind me of my ex. But now I'm making new memories by going to these places with my friends or new dates. It really gives the place a new, positive connotation. I've tried going to some of the places alone but it works a lot better if there's someone else with you. Definitely give it a try!
