D-Lish Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Seriously ever see a good one? My best friend is getting married next year and I went wedding dress shopping with her today. At the end of her appt she had me try on BM's dresses. I'm tall and thin, and I looked pregnant, frumpy yucky in every dress I tired on for her. They are all so ugly. Obviously, it doesn't matter what any of us in the wedding party look like, because we aren't the bride- but seriously, the selection for BM dresses are awful. It's like they are purposely designed to accentuate the worst parts of you!!! I will ultimately wear whatever she wants- but could I at least find a full coverage dress that is remotely cute and slightly flattering- even slightly flattering would be cool.
Hot Carl Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Maybe you can make up for the ugly dress by wearing something more flattering underneath it.
Jilly Bean Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 So that the bride will always look hotter. I think that if a bride is hot, her attendants are dressed very nicely. BUT, if the bride is fat or homely, then the other girls are in canary yellow taffeta. Hot chicks aren't threatened by other hotties, and actually prefer to be surrounded by them. I know when I get married, D-Lish is going to be my MOH just for this reason.
allina Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I've seen some super sexy/adorable BM dresses! I'm not having a bridal party, but if I was I would pick out awesome dresses for my girls. Sorry you hate the dress your friend picked out D-Lish
norajane Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 And I'm sure they aren't inexpensive, either, for all that they look, feel, and fit cheap. Can you suggest shopping at a regular store rather than a bridal store? Whether you go to Nordstrom or J Crew, you can find a real dress that actually looks good and is made much better with material that feels better than what they offer at bridal stores. And all the bridesmaid's can order the same one in whatever size, if it is important to her that you all dress the same. One of the nicest weddings I went to, the bride just asked her bridesmaids to wear a little black dress of their choice...didn't matter if they were the same style.

Or NOTHING underneath it:eek: So that the bride will always look hotter. I think that if a bride is hot, her attendants are dressed very nicely. A hemline that hits you just below the knees is yucky on the best of us. When you get married, can I choose my own dress???? Puleeeeze? I've seen some super sexy/adorable BM dresses! She's still open to suggestions:laugh: Every dress I tried on accentuated a gunt that I don't actually have...
Hot Carl Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Or NOTHING underneath it:eek: That would work, too. If it feels nice.

Puleeeeze? Now THAT was hilarious! Yes, you can, sweetheart. Just make sure it's short, tight and shows off your stellar rack. I want to surrounded by hotness on my special day and have killer photos.

Author D-Lish Posted August 20, 2010 Author Posted August 20, 2010 Approved. Since my ass would be facing everyone in a bikini, I'll opt for a white chiffon short to hide my cellulite:D

torranceshipman Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Butter yellow?! I don't think I am going to go to a bride store for my bridesmaids dresses. They (my bridesmaids) are all way too good looking to be stuffed in hideous taffeta monstrosities if you ask me Plus I actually prefer a more contemporary, simple but elegant look that you can get from going into some of the more upscale stores, and it is probably a cheaper option, too, as bridesmaids dresses seem to get pretty expensive.

I want to gently guide her in that direction, but I don't want to seem pushy. I am tall and thin and I looked hideous in the dresses she had me try on- I wonder what the shorter, curvy busty girls will feel like! And butter yellow??? That's a colour that looks hideous on everyone!
Citizen Erased Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 A friend of mine chose the colour she wanted for her bridesmaids and they all chose the style/cut of their own dress. They all looked great because they were wearing something that flattered them, not maybe one other person in the wedding party. My sis only had me so she let me have at it, I chose my own.

I did the same for my girls CE. I let them choose the dress they wanted to wear and everyone looked great. I had itsy-bitsy girls and large busty girls in my party- they all looked great in the style they chose. I'm going to have to lose 20 lbs in order to look decent in the dress.
