TinaniT Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Well, I knew it was a matter of time, but I was expecting longer. But then, it's been like this the whole time with all of this! I have the ring. He's had it for a while, and I knew that, but the whole down on one knee and giving it to me now... (Yes, he actually got down on one knee. He also asked the man who raised me. Haha! Can you imagine??) It was so sweet. It was over the top and public, but the point was to make it the exact opposite of the proposals in my past. I was totally not expecting it then, either. As much as we talked about the marriage in the past, he seemed so sheepish and nervous that I'd somehow say no. But his modesty is part of his charm. He said he just couldn't wait any longer and that it had been better than he could have thought. He talked to his kids first and they were happy about it. And the kids were the reason I wanted to wait so fervently. So, still be another 8 months or so before the actual marriage. I eloped the first time and he wants to give me the gigantic wedding and I can't even imagine the planning of it at the moment. All of this has happened faster than I normally move on anything, but it feels so much more right. Despite all the stress and troubles we've been through it feels like we just getting stronger and stronger together. Geez, it's been such a short time it feels weird to write. All of this having happened. But I guess that's how it goes sometimes. I know there's more stress ahead with some difficult choices we have to make re: his ex, but hell, we're together, we can take on the world.
alphamale Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 but hell, we're together, we can take on the world. indeed you can TT

pureinheart Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Wow, congrats and total best wishes...(((((((((hugs))))))))
2sure Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I'm glad it sounds as though this is working out well for everyone involved. His exwife must be pretty much ok with it since she wanted to sign the paper work so quickly...which will help alot regarding the change for the children. Are the two of you still planning on living where you are - near his work? I ask only because I cannot imagine flying 4 young children every single weekend back and forth. I did it with one child every other weekend and it was crazy.
Mimolicious Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Congratulations! *CHEERS* LS Bachelorette party underway!
kuma Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 He's had it for a while, and I knew that, but the whole down on one knee and giving it to me now... (Yes, he actually got down on one knee. He also asked the man who raised me. Haha! Can you imagine??) That's so sweet. Best wishes to you both!

Author TinaniT Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 Thank all of you so much. The dynamics of the situation were much more stressful than I could have imagined- and I have a vivid, and pessimistic, imagination at times! - but "we" are totally worth it. He is amazing. He says that I just think that as a result of someone finally treating me like the good woman I am and deserve to be treated like but I maintain he is something special. Now, if only I could convince him, "What would make you happiest?" and a credit card are not acceptable answers to wedding questions. lol! Okay, I'm exaggerating a little bit.
