My sister Serena has been friends with a guy for 3 years and started having feelings for him after a year. She was suffering allot and was always denying that she was in love with the guy for a long time until 2 years later when she finally admitted it to me. Finally in the last few months she felt a mutual attraction. Everything was almost perfect, the way they met which was very romantic. They met in a plane and hit it off immediately saying they had a very big chemistry. Their parents lived in the same building and he once had an internship with her dad's workplace. So she believes that it's fate for them to end up together with all these coincidences.

But the problem was that at the time she was 15 and he was 21. Nobody but me knew of their friendship but finally our parents found out and our dad is very strict when it comes to his daughters interacting with guys. He forced her to cut contact, giving her an ultimatum of her choosing her family or this guy. So she wrote him email saying they were against of the friendship until she would become adult and chose her words carefully not to say we should never talk, but should take a break for a while until she would sort out graduating from school.

No reply came for 3 months, she was devastated so i advised her to write again (which i realize now was very stupid of me). So she wrote him another mail saying she missed him and once again no reply. It has been over a year now she is mourning over this guy and can't get over him at all. She's only 17 and is ignoring all the guys that like her.

He is changing his face-book photos with happy pics and everything, and this is killing her even more. She's had a very bad childhood with our parents never giving her much attention and has lived 5 years with a relative instead with us so she's always felt like she was deprived of love. And i guess this guy changed how she felt.

I think personally he is an a*s because he could have just replied with anything knowing she's their waiting for a reply. But he hasn't and she's just stuck at when she was 15 only thinking of this guy. She's become self destructive and I'm really worried she might hurt herself if she doesn't come out of this depression.

Waiting for some kind of help please.

Have you talked to your parents about this? Does she want help?

I don't think it's possible to move on if you don't want to move on. And you can't help someone who doesn't want help.

I can see where she's coming from, with all the pain, but what does she want?
