I have been with my husband for four years we have a two year old together. The past year and a half he has been cruel to me. Always calling me names and telling me to shut up anytime I speak. Telling me he does not care what I have to say. He will curse at me call me retarded and a bunch of other names. We don't even sleep in the same bedroom because at night he plays video games and chats online. He has not had a job in over a year and refuses to get one. He is getting ready to go to college here soon so we moved and for right now are living with his family.

 

I been under his control for so long with him bossing me around telling me what I can and can't do. I even have to ask him if it's ok to go to the store. I have finally woke up and see what he is doing to me is not healthy. He screams at me gives me dirty looks and says horrible things every single day. I am so sad and feel like mentally I been through a nightmare. I have to where to go so I can't just walk out the door. So I went behind his back and put in an application for low income housing hoping that soon I will come up on the list. I also work and and attend college. He tells me if I ever leave him he will take our daughter from me and he will get custody.

 

This upsets me and probably has been the reason I have stayed this long. He has ruined the way I feel about myself and everyday it's like being locked up in prison. I live in WV only have lived here about two months and I don't have money to use to get a divorce. But yet I need help to get away from him. People have told me about legal aid and I'm not sure what that is. So if anyone has any advice please share. I am a mess and need some words from others.

I don't know what state you came from, but you are not legally going to be able to move the child back there. As soon as you agreed to move to WV, he had you. I hate to inform you, but he planned this out. He wanted to be in WV and with his parents in order to be able to afford to divorce you and try to get custody.

Can you work? You may have to go to work full-time and forget schooling at this point if you want to have custody.

You really need loads of money for a lawyer. I am hoping that your family can help you. Also check into free legal aid for impoverished women, and abuse centers.

He is calling you names partly because he wants a divorce. He wants to incite you to try to get away from him.

He sounds like an evil person. I have seen this done to a woman before, who moved to a H's state and then he threw her out, took custody of 3 children, and she was living in her car. Please hop on this emergency with free aid, family aid, anything, to help yourself.

I am so sorry this is happening to you. Don't get depressed, get into action. I know that's easy to say and hard to do, but this is an emergency time in your life.
