Hello,

What is your take on High Fructose Corn Syrup? Of course, large sums of sugar or corn syrup isn't healthy either way, you think HFCS is worse for you?

I found this interesting study...http://www.princeton.edu/main/news/archive/S26/91/22K07/

What do you guys think?

High Fructose Corn Syrup is a concentrated sugary substance that, when used as a sweetener, goes straight into the blood system and what's not burned off by the body is simply stored as fat. You may as well just use pure sugar. Many food manufacturers are getting away from using high fructose corn syrup.

If it's at all possible, reduce your use of any food substance containing an abnormal amount of sugar or fructose, same difference.

Tony's right, this stuff is simply liquid sugar, and as such can only be absorbed in limited quantities. Very bad stuff, IMO.

I feel that avoiding HFCS like a phobia is excessive, but it goes without saying that most foods that have high enough concentrations of HFCS to worry about are foods that a person with an eye for physical fitness should probably not be eating anyway due to their poor nutritional value.

In short, I don't think it's worth freaking about about if a person has a little bit every once in a while. However, it's always good to read food labels, to know and understand what you're putting into your body, and to make food choices that make logical sense for your body's requirements.

It good to see a study confirming a long held suspicion. One of most important things a person can do to help their health and nutrition is to go back to cooking from scratch. And if enough people do this, it would make the greatest change on our current food production system across the board, from what is produced to how it is sold.
