user2011 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 So what films are getting you through??? Speaking from a guys perspective The Wackness (A MUST!) Swingers Pursuit of Happiness Any more?
LovelyDaze Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Swingers is a great one! Watched it twice. I like "Revolutionary Road"(reminds you that the hottest love can turn deathly ice cold) "(500) Days of Summer(probably most relationships go through this) "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"(excellent!)
TheUnthoughtKnown Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Swingers is a great one! Watched it twice. I like "Revolutionary Road"(reminds you that the hottest love can turn deathly ice cold) "(500) Days of Summer(probably most relationships go through this) "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"(excellent!) You've mentioned pretty much all of the ones I watched too! Swingers = Amazing! I totally feel for Jon Favreu in that, and it helped me that I empathised (500) Days of Summer = Utterly fantastic. I think its indicitive of how a lot of relationships turn out, and it reminded me that even if you're madly in love and doing your best for the relationship, that doesn't mean your other half is on the same page. In a few days the character of Summer reminded me of my ex, she has that...aloofness, I spose it is, that my ex inhabited. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind = Blew me away. I loved Clementine's character, and I was so moved by the way Joel held on, and how he interacted with the memories of her. I think it's kind of cathartic to see the kind of resolution they came to (or at least how I interpreted it) that, although they had their problems with each other, it was worth it to try again. Those films have helped me feel better, at times, definitely. If anyone has any other suggestions of similar movies, I'd really appreciate it.

SassyKitten Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 See, women so need to be more catered to when it comes to good post breakup films! It would be so nice to see some more out there that don't end up with the woman either living happily ever after with a man or dying. Sometimes we need a good reminder that it's OK to focus on ourselves!

It would be so nice to see some more out there that don't end up with the woman either living happily ever after with a man or dying. Sometimes we need a good reminder that it's OK to focus on ourselves! The Breakup with Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston comes to mind...the woman ends up making the right choice and living a better life without the guy...
SassyKitten Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 I've seen The Breakup a few times, it was ok. I just did a quick Google and just about all of the lists for women have the ones with the fairy tale ending, with one article even harping on about "When one door closes, another one opens". Goes to show how the media seems to push the importance of a woman defining herself through a man, wow, thanks.
smk Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 he's just not that into you - i know its catered towards women but it can work the other way around - she had her heart broken and yet never gave up... Seven pounds - dont really know why. Notting Hill - love prevails (blah di blah) Love Actually - I seem to have a thing for crappy hugh grant films Zack & Miri make a porno Hitch Marley & Me - gets the tears flowing - lol... not like we need an excuse...
DenverBachelor Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 One of the best love movies that I can think of is actually a Bollywood movie from 1960 called Chaudhvin Ka Chand. It starred Guru Dutt and Waheeda Rehman. It's basically a love triangle between Guru Dutt , Rehman and Waheeda. If you like movies that are much different than American cinema, this is a must see.
smk Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 DB - for bollywood a few other good ones are: Hum Tum - Saif Ali Khan & Rani Mukherjee - its about 2 people who keep on coming into each others live and after several years finally get together. Devdas - loses the love of his life due to family, becomes an alcoholic, dies at her doorstep. Mughal E Azam
