monochrome Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Im 23 and a few months ago my relationship with my very first girlfriend collapsed after a little over two years together and a year or so before hand of being friends. Im moving on with my life and so is she. I've become so much stronger than before but I just feel I will never be able to love anyone as much as I loved her. It feels like I gave her all the love I have and now there is nothing left to share with anyone else. I really thought we were going to be together forever. I don't understand how anyone can feel like that for more than one person in a lifetime?! Am I just naive?
Pyro Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 give it time and you will see. I felt the exact same way after my first love.
106rob Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 you will find it again! and you may find it stronge than the first time round! i was the same as you after my first split after nearly 2 years! i then met someone else who i loved more than my first and had plans for the future etc....im not hurting alot more after looseing her than my first ex
romango Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 I really thought we were going to be together forever. I don't understand how anyone can feel like that for more than one person in a lifetime?! Am I just naive? Yes, you're naive along with the other 50% plus that make up the divorce rate. Relationships are not static and in a vacuum. They evolve and grow or devolve and wither. Grow or die.
Author monochrome Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 Thanks for sharing your experiences, it helps to hear from people who have come through a similar feeling (nothing beats the internet for reminding you that no matter what you do/think/feel/experience, someone else somewhere has already done/thought/felt/experienced it before. ) How does it feel to realise you were wrong, and that you could love again after all? I'm not completely convinced im not the exception to the rule but I expect everyone feels like that.
