Guitarjeff Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Hi all you LDR folks. I have been in a LDR for half a year. I live in Tennesse and My girlfriend lives in England. we have seen each other twice and I am headed back to England on Aug 24th for five days and five nights. I am a musician and I have written a lot of songs for my girlfriend. If you would like to cdheck them out please visit my soundclick site here. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=86023 Last month she flew over to Charlotte, NC and I drove over there from Knoxville and we stayed at a hotel for four days and had a lovely time. Two songs on there about our trip, "the two of us", and "Rock My Soul" All songs were written for her beside the bottom two. There are pistures of her on my site and with most of the songs. The pisture on the song called "Lady Love" was taken at Kings Mountain when we were in NC together. We are very much in love and it still continues to grow, like we have become one together. I look forward to sharing our ups and downs here with all of our fellow LDR folks and I look forward to heraing your ups and downs. Thanks Jeff
Author Guitarjeff Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Thanks much alpha. This ldr stuff is not easy, but it's so rewarding as well, it has been an incredible ride for the last half year. We met when she read a post on a divorce forum that I had wrote, trying to help hurting people. I had written it two years before, she took a chance and emailed me and that was the start. We are almost the same age with the same type family, both fathers have passed away, neither mother has remarried, both 3 brothers and 1 sister, and it's if our minds are in mental contact. It has been stunning and magical so far
Author Guitarjeff Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Hi Lisa. Well, 5000 miles is some serious distance, but my girlfriend is in a comfortable financial situation which allows us to see each other fairly often. twice in 6 months and as I said I am heading over again on August 24th for five days. As for the future, we have agreed that we will just wait until we reach the point where we say to ourselves "we refuse to be separated any longer" and our families will simply have to adapt to that. In these LDR's both people have to put other people's feelings and needs right up there with their own and that's what we are trying to do. At the end of the song "The two of them" I say she met a man who had a story similar to how ours began. She met a guy at the Charlotte Airport who was headed back to Scotland to be with his wife. They had a two year LDR and finally were married and he moved over there from Vegas. That's really a LDR, but it did work out for them in the end and that inspired us so much. So yeah, we are simply letting things happen naturally and trying to consider our families as well. She turns 47 tomorrow and we are going to stay up past midnight tonight on Skype and celebrate. I guess none of us can know exactly what will happen in the future and all we can do is simply be ourselves and be natural and express what we feel. Our love went through the really intense phase at the beginning where we were sending the really long, deep emails and such. that has kind of tapered off to be more normal back and forth but we like that and it makes us feel like we are feeling like a normal couple and we feel comfortable with each other. I think our age of 47 means we are fairly mature and we have a grasp of just about how long we can expect our lives to last and so we have a real focused picture of the future as far as what we want, just not sure when it will feel comfortable enough to actually make the move to be with each other every day because there will be so much involved. I have a 15 year old daughter, her a 17 year old son living at home as well. The paperwork alone will be a nightmare probably to move over there. We realize this will be a huge uproar in our lives for one of us to move so that's why we are trying to take our time and get both families accustomed to us. I have met her family, they love me and I love them, she hasn't met mine yet but is friends with a few of them on facebook and such, so I know they will love each other as well.
aerogurl87 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Well Jeff I'm happy you're enjoying your relationship. 5,000 miles is some serious distance, lol. My boyfriend and I are about 2,000 miles from one another, which adds up to a 12 hour journey from my house to his. Good luck on your journey and yeah moving together will be hard, but in the end if you really want it to work, that's gonna be a hurdle you two will have to overcome together.
