Lately everything makes me gag. Whatever I eat, I gag later. No matter what I drink, I gag later. I'm not on any new medication or anything. Sometimes I just start gagging out of the blue, to the point where I even barf a little. I'm a 48-year-old male who has always maintained a healthy lifestyle. WTF?

Well, knock it off already. (Sorry, but that advice was just a gag.) :p

Thanks FF, I'm all choked up.

Shakz, have you seen a doctor? Could be reflux but a doctor can tell you exactly what is going on.

No, no doctor yet, Chocolat. I hoped some one might have a clue without having to go there. Reflux? Could be.

You need to see a doctor, hon. This is not something that should be ignored, nor is it anything that someone can diagnose online.

It could be neurologic in nature or stress-related. Regardless, please, see a doctor ASAP on this.

I don't think you really want to entrust your health to the guesses of forum members, regardless how well-intentioned. Please go to a doctor and get an actual diagnosis!

Yikes, JB! Neuroligical? God, I hope not. I was kind of thinking allergy or something. Hmmm, maybe I will go to a damn doctor.

Hasn't anyone else actually had this? There's no heartburn or nausea, just gagging?

Well, I'm not trying to frighten you, Shakz! I just want to shake you a bit into not taking this too lightly. I know how boys are with going to the doctor... lol

It really could most likely be a stress reaction. Or, it could be something dental or ENT-related. I have no idea. I've never even played a doctor on TV.

But, you want to check it out, as if it's nothing, then you can forget about it, ease your mind, and take the simple treatment to stop the symptoms. Also, if it is something more involved, catching it early could make all the difference.

Again, NOT trying to scare you, but I'm going to let up until you go see a doc.

Alright..let me snap on my gloves..

"Turn your head and cough"

I was going with reflux..

Take some Prevacid for a few days and see if it helps..

Weight gain ?

I always feel a little that way if I gain a few lbs and then eat tons..

Hey.. isn't a gag reflex for a guy okay ?

I always thought it was the women who weren't supposed to have a gag reflex.

You know what else to do evil. Post-nasal drip. My head is always closed, and then discharges, if the weather is rainy, and the gag is only worse. Kari, I am with you - some in the morning to brush their teeth is unhappy.

I often have that when my allergic rhinitis is bad, leading to intense phlegm and post-nasal drip - can barely open my mouth without gagging. But if you don't have any other related symptoms, definitely see a doctor.

Yep, that's what it turned out to be, according to my doctor, a man one step ahead of Vinnie Boombatz. PND exacerbated by some kind of rabbit bush allergy, and the camphor from my Icy-Hot doesn't help much. Going with an antihistamine. Thanks to all for your concern and I will say a prayer in your honor.
