Women like guys with nice cars...

This isn't news. As mentioned on the first page, girls see a guy with a nice car, they think he's got money, first and foremost.

I laugh though when I see a shiny new Escalade with spinners in the cracked up driveway of a dumpy looking house. That's just sad... it's like the car is more expensive than the home.

Yeah. "Hey beetcha, getta you effena azza offa my Ferrari. Whata you nutza?

He wasn't upset because the car was most likely rented and not even his..

Most of them are...

Even the rich just rent them.

I know when I see a souped up shiny expensive new car with spinners driving up from the worst neighborhood in the city with a gangbanger in the driver's seat, I get all hot and bothered at the prospect of getting a man with money and a stable life.

Wow , I can't believe this women sat on this man's Ferrari. That is just rude.

I would have told her to move her fat butt off my ride. However, men drool over those cars as well.

Makes sense. Why own a depreciating asset?

Assets only depreciate if you intend to sell them...

Haha she would have ended up under my Ferrari when I was done with her lol.

I am a car lover, and find myself drooling over cars constantly as well. Car watching is fun. I love antique car shows.

Actually assets depreciate over their entire useful life, and have a salvage value that is entered into this calculation if you do intend on selling it.

 There's my accountant speak coming in again!

I didn't watch your video before making that post. Sorry!

Heh, touche. I remember studying this stuff back in school...and you're right, but practically speaking, the market value of a property asset is irrelevant unless you are selling...

This is what I was getting at. Real estate, stocks and bonds can appreciate; cars generally do not.

Well, you do have book value and fair value when selling property assets, the difference between which is recorded as either a loss or gain. But then industrial and commercial buildings are often depreciated over the number of years they are expected to be used, however fair market value still plays into it.

And I agree with what you're saying as far as cars generally being a terrible investment. But if a person intends on driving a car until it kicks the bucket, please tell me at what point in the car's life its fair market value has ANY significance whatsoever.

It doesn't...

I just got back from getting a sandwich at this little place, and parked outside was a Mazerati with a license plate frame that said, "My other vehicle is a JET!" with a little picture of a jet. I literally said outloud," What a jackass." Guy was coming out of the shop next door when I said that.

Nice cars are really lost on me when it comes to dating. But admittedly, sh*tty cars turn me off. If it's clean, practical, fits the person's lifestyle and budget...that will turn me on more than some fancy wheels anyway.

I like Maseratis, and jets :bunny: I'm not going to pretend like a guy owning those isn't a huge plus. Sorry PC police :p

Doesn't impress star... but if that guy had decided to call her out when she said "jackass" I bet he could have got her number.

You have lost all credibility on here. You never present any real evidence to back up your sweeping generalizations.

Yes we are all aware that gold diggers exist who want nothing more than your money.

haha it goes far beyond "gold diggers" how blind are you that you ask for proof... do you not open your eyes to reality.

Currently I don't have a partner. Right now, I am a student, and I haven't dated any fellow students (I'm 28, making me a bit older than most students), so all of my partners have made the same or more than me.

Looking back, I did have one ex who was a lawyer and making 6 figures, all of the others at the most have pulled in about $1000/week. This is not why I was attracted him. And actually one of the big things that drove us apart was that he was under the impression that he had the license to act like a complete douche just because he was making all of that money.

Hmm you had a bf who made lots of money and acted like a douche... how did he get you to date him... was it the fact that he acted entitled or the money or a combo of both that turned you on? (I understand you eventualy had enough and maybe he just didn't care any ways)

Having a license plate frame to ADVERTISE that though? C'mon...

You know he could have talked you into a date. I know a guy with his own plane and he does well with the ladies. He is also a fat a$$ hole.

What you don't seem to understand is that very rich people own their toys through special tricks. AKA say they want a private jet they own it through a Partnership or Corporation deal so they don't need to worry about anything but the accounting.

If a car can't run, then it would have zero fair market value and zero salvage value.

However, if a building is depreciated and later sold, and the property value has gone up, that's fair market value at work and a gain is recorded.

Green - He certainly didn't act like a douche at the beginning! Though once he felt like he had me wrapped around his finger, he became a completely different person.

Alright, before this becomes a thread about asset accounting and special purpose entities, lets reel it in to the matter at hand:

Women like bling.

Some like it more than others; usually younger women are more impressed by it. Therefore men with bling have a marked advantage at attracting women.

Indeed. And that is true about any non-liquid non-property asset...so if you intend on using something, such as a car, through the end of its life, then you'll have assumed the point you just made. Also, cars these days more or less have an indefinite life span. It's simply a matter of how much money you wish to sprinkle on them.

A matter of supply and demand as well. Which is why a 1965 Mustang would sell for much more than another 1965 car, assuming it still runs.

IMO.. it isn't really about how nice of a car it is as much as it is just a nice car..

I think a Toyota Sequoia (what I drive) is as much of a chick magnet as a Countach..

The difference to me is that the kind of woman that gets all wet only over a Countach isn't worth anything to me as she is just been labeled a gold digger.

Whoops, meant to say non-real property asset...

But again, the 1965 Mustang and the 1965 random piece of crap would have identical "value" if they were both maintained with no intent on selling...

But I am merely arguing semantics, and I'm with you'reasian on this one...

Women like bling...but so do men, yes...?

I don't even know what a Countach is...

But yeah, a Sequoia would attract me, but because of the type of guy I invision driving it.

I'd imagine clowns are chick magnets, because they can make women laugh. The fact that you're an art critic on top of that adds the sensitive side...

you're good to go!
