PinkToes Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Hi everyone, I haven't been on LS in quite awhile, but something has happened recently that absolutely took me by surprise, and I wanted to share it here. My engagement ended nearly 2 years ago, and I've had a really, really hard time with that. We never stopped loving each other, just couldn't get past some daunting issues of distance and illness. So it always felt tragic, in addition to being so sad. I knew I had to move on, but it hasn't been easy. I was pretty convinced that I would never be interested in anyone else again. About 6 weeks ago, my old college boyfriend found me on Facebook, and we started talking. I had broken things off way back then, because I thought I was too young to get serious, and I really didn't think much about him after that. Until we decided to meet for a drink, and realized that not only had the feelings not disappeared, but we had grown in similar ways, and actually seemed a better match than before. The issue that broke us up before -- being too young -- has pretty much resolved itself. So that whole thing about love finding you when you're not looking... absolutely true, in my case. And it feels so nice. A wonderful surprise that found me in its own time. Who knows where this will lead, but I'm OK with that. I am enjoying the journey. Hang in there, everyone who is living through darkness at the moment. I was pretty convinced that I would never, ever smile again, but it just wasn't true. One day at a time, one step at a time, can lead to some pretty amazing things if you keep your heart open and trust the path ahead. Take care.
