I'm an idiot and need to reverse my decision about dinner with ex!!!

The ex broke it off after 5+ years of dating because of my infidelities 4 years ago. She basically said she never got over it, and the reason she always has an attitude with me is because she never dealt with what I did, blah blah blah.

I am still her landlord (she lives in one of my rental houses), so I have to speak with her to collect the rent, or if a repair needs to be done. This is not a big deal for me. We've gone about a week with NO CONTACT, but she texted me while I was at work tonight to ask about some tool set? Then, she asked me if I would like to get dinner with her tomorrow when she gets off work. I stupidly replied, "yea call me when you get out".

Now, I'm starting to think this wasn't such a good idea. I don't know what she's hoping to get out of this, or if I'm just going to end up feeling worse, when I've been doing fairly well, and feeling pretty good with just the minimal landlord/tennant contact.

I am thinking about emailing her and basically telling her 'nevermind' about dinner tomorrow night. Any suggestions what I should write or how I should phrase it so I don't look like a moron? Please help!!!

Don't worry about sounding like a moron. It won't matter in the long-run what she thinks. Just e-mail her with a short e-mail saying that you can't make dinner. You don't even need to give her an explanation. If she writes back asking for one, just ignore it and go LC (rent related only contact).

You don't owe her jack ****. If she has a problem with it, it's her problem.
