EyeAlone Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 I'm in my mid twenties and it's been over 4 years since I've gone out on a date. Well I'm finally going out tomorrow night with a guy that I met online at a dating site and I am really really nervous. I'm almost ready to cry and/or throw up. I guess it's because I haven't done this in a while and this will be my very first time going on a date with someone that I met online. I'm so scared that I will be so boring or make a complete fool of myself, which is easy for me to do when I'm scared. My friends tell me to just be myself and everything will be fine but I just don't know how to calm down Does anyone else deal with nervousness before the first date? How should I cope?
sugarmomma Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 I can't remember the last time I was nervous about a date so I'm not sure if I can help. I would say don't talk too much or too little. Ask him questions about himself and don't talk too much about yourself (I hate when guys do that). Don't be overly eager and please don't tell him you haven't had a date in four years. Also keep the conversation light and breezy. Smile. If you like the way he looks give him a compliment. Try to relax and have fun. Look at him as a potential friend instead of a romantic interest since you don't know him just yet. If there is no love connection you can always be friends. Good Luck!!
zengirl Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Expectations are what make us unhappy. Try to go into the date without expectations. Get out and date more! Dating is just another way of meeting new people. Some will go well, some won't.
