MelanieLynMarie Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Its been hard for me to cheer up my SO when hes down and bummed about something. I usually joke around and go on webcam-nothing naughty of course...but i try to build a positive atmosphere. How do you cheer up your SO when they're disappointed or down? Its hard, cause I really want to be there for him, and it sucks majorly that i can't.
aerogurl87 Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Let him talk to you about whatever's bothering him and just vent. Well that's what works for me and my boyfriend, but your SO might be a little different.
carvidep Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I agree, talking about things makes them easier to deal with. It took a while for my SO to become comfortable enough to complain to me about things. He didn't like talking about his problems, whether they be big or small. In our case, when ever I dug for information, he'd close up even more, so I told him that if anything ever bothered him, I'd be there to listen, and I stopped pushing him so hard to tell me things. Now he's much more open with me in that respect. I sometimes do have to pry it out of him though, but he appreciates it once he's finally gotten it off of his shoulders.
tonnywillgram Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 If your SO decided to feel that way, then you can't change it. But let him know instead that you are just there for him ready to listen whatever he likes to say.. I Know its crazy when you can't see him personally but that just how it is since your living away from each other..... http://www.positiveconflicts.org
