Gunny376 Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 EGA ~ Eagle, Globe and Anchor ~ the emblem of the United States Marines Corps. I took one of the ones that go on my Dress Blues and cut the part that holds it to the uniform and made it flat. I carry it daily in my pocket and often take it out of my pocket to remind me of what it means? Honor, integrity, honesty, brotherhood (and to fellow women Marines ~ their being my sisters). fidelity. I realize that a lot of you BS have never worn the EGA ~ but in your own way you've earned it. You were faithful, honest, had integrity, ethics, honor and fidelity in yourself and in your spouse. You were are part of something a larger part of something than yourself ~ you gave a part of yourself larger than yourself!
Author Gunny376 Posted July 15, 2010 Author Posted July 15, 2010 I guess what I'm saying is don't let a failed relationship burn you out on finding the right someone else. My last LTR GF was just about the perfect fit for me and I for her, unfortnaely she was the in the wrong place at the wrong time in my life. She couldn't displace her life for me ~ and I had to move forward in and with my lfie ~ unfortnately alone. I had to over come the weakness of being single and alone. I had to accept and over come that weakness, I had to embrace it and make it my own.

habs53 Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 You are one deep person Gunny. To bad the world never had more people like yourself.
Author Gunny376 Posted July 15, 2010 Author Posted July 15, 2010 You are one deep person Gunny. To bad the world never had more people like yourself. We each are the sum of our life experiences and the people that come and go in our lives ~ and have an influence upon us and our lives. Never before has there ever been any one like you ~ and never again will there ever be anyone as unique as yourself ~ nor I? We're each the sum of our experiences and the people that come and go in our lives ~ and they're influences that shape our lives and ourselves. I carry the EGA in my pocket, and the day I die you will find in my pocket. I carry it to remind me of the 14 Leadership Traits, and the traits of being a Marine. Honor, and to keep my Honor clean. Integrity (No matter what ~ always speak the truth ~ say what you mean and mean what you say) ~ Tact (The Golden Rule ~ "Treat Others the way you would want to be treated if you were them" ~ Respect for others, Courtesy costs one nothing. Politeness cost you nothing!) Be who you are and accept who you are. And make no apologies about it. Know your limits and set you limits ~ you teach people how to treat you. My military medical insurance provider (which contrary to popular belief I pay premiums and co-pays on) normally allows only eight so called behavioral health visits (that is to see a psych of some kind ~ in my case a psychologist) In my case? They've authorized up to 22, mainly for PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome) I've always been crazy ~ but its help to keep me from going insane! My point is that there's life after divorce, after the Marine Corps, after a job lost, after whatever..................... It each and everyone of us responsibility for our own personal happiness ~ not someone else. If your looking for happiness through someone else all your going to find is disappointment. I carry the EGA in my pocket to remind me what I've been through ~ I made it through twenty years of all of that ~ I can make it through twenty plus more years of what ever life has to throw at me! Come Hell or High Water! By God!
